Abstract

A computer-implemented system and method for adaptive pricing determines a price that is associated with one or more recommended products and/or product configurations based, at least in part, on inferences from behavioral information. The price may be further determined in accordance with factors such as location, product costs, inventory levels, a physical site, and/or a bidding process.

Claims (43)

1 . A method, comprising:

contributing a plurality of usage behaviors to a computer-implemented usage function executed on a processor-based device; and

receiving a recommendation generated by a computer-implemented recommender, wherein the recommendation comprises one or more products and an associated price, wherein the price is based, at least in part, on an inference from the plurality of usage behaviors.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

contributing the plurality of usage behaviors, wherein one behavior of the plurality of behaviors is a physiological response.

3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving the price, wherein the price is determined in accordance with a recommended product configuration.

4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving the price, wherein the price is determined in accordance with a bidding process.

5 . The method of claim 4 , further comprising:

receiving the price, wherein the price is determined in accordance with a product cost.

6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving the price, wherein the price is determined in accordance with an inventory level.

7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving the price, wherein the price is determined in accordance with an automatically determined location.

8 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving the price, wherein the price is determined in accordance with a physical site.

9 . A computer-implemented system, comprising:

a computer-implemented usage function comprising a plurality of usage behaviors; and

a recommender function executed on a processor-based device, wherein the recommender function generates a recommendation comprising one or more products and an associated price, wherein the price is based, at least in part, on an inference from the plurality of usage behaviors.

10 . The system of claim 9 , further comprising:

the plurality of usage behaviors, wherein at least one of the plurality of usage behaviors is a physiological response.

11 . The system of claim 9 , further comprising:

the recommender function, wherein the recommender function generates the recommendation comprising the one or more products and the associated price, wherein the price is generated in accordance with a recommended product configuration.

12 . The system of claim 9 , further comprising:

the recommender function, wherein the recommender function generates the recommendation comprising one or more products and the associated price, wherein the price is generated in accordance with a bidding process.

13 . The system of claim 12 , further comprising:

the recommender function, wherein the recommender function generates the recommendation comprising the one or more products and the associated price, wherein the price generated is in accordance with a product cost.

14 . The system of claim 9 , further comprising:

the recommender function, wherein the recommender function generates the recommendation comprising the one or more products and the associated price, wherein the price is generated in accordance with an inventory level.

15 . The system of claim 9 , further comprising:

the recommender function, wherein the recommender function generates the recommendation comprising the one or more products and the associated price, wherein the price is generated in accordance with an automatically determined location.

16 . The system of claim 9 , further comprising:

the recommender function, wherein the recommender function generates the recommendation comprising the one or more products and the associated price, wherein the price is generated in accordance with a physical site.

17 . A computer-implemented system, comprising:

a product recommender executed on a processor-based device, wherein the product recommender delivers a recommendation comprising one or more products to a recommendation recipient, wherein the recommendation is based, at least in part on an inference from a plurality of usage behaviors;

a computer-implemented adaptive pricing function, wherein the pricing function generates a price associated with the one or more products based, at least in part, on an inference from a plurality of usage behaviors.

18 . The system of claim 17 , further comprising

the pricing function that generates the price associated with the one or more products, wherein the price is generated in accordance with a bidding process.

19 . The system of claim 17 , further comprising

the pricing function that generates the price associated with the one or more products, wherein the price is generated in accordance with a product cost.

20 . The system of claim 17 , further comprising

the pricing function that generates the price associated with the one or more products, wherein the price is generated in accordance with an inventory level.
