Abstract

A battery pack includes a battery module having at least one battery cell, and at least one heat dissipation plate in contact with the battery cell, the heat dissipation plate having at least one channel configured to include a refrigerant, a rib arranged to define a frame of the heat dissipation plate, and a through-hole between the channel and the rib.

Claims (17)

1. A battery pack, comprising: a battery module including at least one battery cell; and at least one heat dissipation plate in contact with the battery cell, the heat dissipation plate including: at least one channel defined by a channel wall and includes a refrigerant, a plurality of ribs radiating from the channel wall and arranged to define a frame of the heat dissipation plate, and a plurality of through-holes between the channel and the ribs, wherein the plurality of ribs are arranged in a criss-cross structure to form a lattice, wherein the ribs and channel wall of the heat dissipation plate are integral with each other to define a single uniform structure.

2. The battery pack as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the channel extends through the rib and includes at least one protrusion.

3. The battery pack as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the heat dissipation plate further comprises a connection groove at an end of the at least one channel.

4. The battery pack as claimed in claim 3 , wherein the heat dissipation plate further comprises a connection pipe connected to the connection groove, the connection groove being between the connection pipe and the channel.

5. The battery pack as claimed in claim 4 , wherein the connection pipe connects two adjacent channels in the heat dissipation plate.

6. The battery pack as claimed in claim 5 , wherein the heat dissipation plate includes at least two separate heat dissipation plate portions, the at least two heat dissipation plate portions being adjacent to each other, and the connection pipe connects channels in the at least two heat dissipation plate portions.

7. The battery pack as claimed in claim 1 , further comprising at least one joint in the heat dissipation plate.

8. The battery pack as claimed in claim 7 , wherein the joint is on a sidewall or on a bottom of the heat dissipation plate, the joint being placed where the battery module, the channel, the rib, and the through-hole are not positioned.

9. The battery pack as claimed in claim 8 , further comprising a joining member, the joining member being coupled to the joint to connect adjacent heat dissipation plate portions of the heat dissipation plate.

10. The battery pack as claimed in claim 1 , wherein a plurality of battery cells in the battery module are placed in parallel to a gravity direction, the heat dissipation plate being below at least one battery module.

11. The battery pack as claimed in claim 1 , wherein a plurality of battery cells in the battery module are placed in parallel to a ground direction, the heat dissipation plate being between the adjacent battery modules.

12. The battery pack as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the heat dissipation plate includes a heat conductive metallic material.

13. The battery pack as claimed in claim 12 , wherein the heat dissipation plate includes aluminum.

14. The battery pack as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the heat dissipation plate is configured to have the refrigerant flow through the channel in a first direction or in a second direction opposite to the first direction.

15. The battery pack as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the heat dissipation plate is configured to have the refrigerant flow in opposite directions through adjacent channels.

16. The battery pack as claimed in claim 15 , wherein the heat dissipation plate is configured to have the refrigerant flow sequentially through a first channel in a first direction and through a second channel adjacent the first channel in a second direction opposite the first direction.

17. The battery pack as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the frame includes a plurality of lateral members defining a rectangular structure around and integral with the plurality of ribs and channel wall to define the single uniform structure.
