Abstract

A system for presentation of multiple NFC credentials via an NFC baseband in a portable communication device during a single NFC transaction. The system comprises a secure element having a directory of available NFC credentials stored therein, wherein the ordering of the available NFC credentials usually indicates the priority. The system further comprises a pre-determined multiple-credential start Application ID (AID) wherein the directory includes a plurality of NFC credentials after the pre-determined multiple-credential start AID. A method for presenting multiple NFC credentials during a single NFC transaction is also disclosed.

Claims (40)

1. A system for presentation of multiple NFC credentials via an NFC baseband in a portable communication device during a single NFC transaction, the system comprising:

a secure element operably connected to the NFC baseband;

a directory of available credentials stored in the secure element, wherein the available credentials include a pre-determined multiple-credential start Application ID (AID),

the directory further containing a plurality of NFC credentials after the start AID,

wherein the portable communication device is configured to wirelessly communicate the start AID and the plurality of NFC credentials to a reader, and

wherein the star AID identifies a beginning of transmission of the plurality of NFC credentials and instructs the reader to process and use each of the NFC credentials to complete the single NFC transaction.

2. The system according to claim 1 wherein the pre-determined multiple-credential start Application ID (AID) is a constant indicating a number of credentials the reader should expect to receive during the single NFC transaction.

The system according to claim 2 wherein the available credentials further includes a pre-determined multiple-credential end Application ID (AID), the directory further containing the pre-determined multiple-credential end AID after the plurality of NFC credentials, wherein the end AID instructs the reader to stop attempting to read further NFC credentials and end a session with the secure element.

4. The system according to claim 3 wherein the pre-determined multiple-credential end Application ID (AID) is a constant.

5. The system according to claim 1 wherein the pre-determined multiple-credential start Application ID (AID) further includes an integer variable indicative of a number of credentials desired for presentation during a single read of an NFC secure element registry.

6. A method for presenting multiple NFC credentials via an NFC baseband in a portable communication device during a single NFC transaction, the method comprising:

connecting a secure element to the NFC baseband;

storing a pre-determined multiple-credential start Application ID (AID) in the secure element;

storing a first credential in the secure element after the pre-determined multiple-credential start Application ID (AID);

storing a second credential in the secure element after the first credential;

communicating the pre-determined multiple-credential start AID, wherein the start AID identifies a beginning of a transmission of the first and second credentials and instructs a reader to process and use each of the first and second credentials to complete the single NFC transaction; and

transmitting the first and second credentials via the NFC baseband.

7. The method of claim 6 further comprising:

storing a pre-determined multiple-credential end Application ID (AID) after the second credential, wherein the end AID instructs the reader to stop attempting to read further credentials and end a session with the secure element; and

halting transmission of credentials via the NFC baseband upon encountering the pre-determined multiple-credentials end Application ID (AID).

8. The method of claim 6 wherein the pre-determined multiple-credential start Application ID (AID) is a constant.

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the constant indicates a number of credentials the reader should expect to receive during the single NFC transaction.

10. The method of claim 6 , wherein the pre-determined multiple-credential start AID indicates to the reader that the first and second credentials will be sent following the pre-determined multiple-credential start AID during the single NFC transaction.

11. The method of claim 6 wherein the pre-determined multiple-credential start Application ID (AID) further includes an integer variable indicative of a number of credentials desired for presentation during a single read of an NFC secure element registry.

12. The method of claim 6 wherein a first type of reader device may ignore the pre-determined multiple-credential start Application ID (AID) and a second type of reader device may process the pre-determined multiple-credential start Application ID (AID).

13. An apparatus comprising:

means for connecting a secure element to an NFC baseband;

means for storing a pre-determined multiple-credential start Application ID (AID) in the secure element;

means for storing a first credential in the secure element after the pre-determined multiple-credential start Application ID (AID);

means for storing a second credential in the secure element after the first credential;

means for communicating the pre-determined multiple-credential start AID, wherein the start AID identifies a beginning of a transmission of the first and second credentials and instructs a reader to process and use each of the first and second credentials to complete the single NFC transaction; and

means for transmitting the first and second credentials via the NFC baseband.

14. The apparatus according to claim 13 further comprising means for storing a pre-determined multiple-credential end Application ID (AID) after the second credential.

15. The apparatus according to claim 14 further comprising

means for halting transmission of credentials via the NFC baseband upon encountering the pre-determined multiple-credentials end Application ID (AID).

16. The apparatus according to claim 13 wherein the pre-determined multiple-credential start Application ID (AID) is a constant indicating to the reader that the first and second credentials will be sent following the pre-determined multiple-credential start AID during a single NFC transaction.

17. The apparatus according to claim 13 wherein the pre-determined multiple-credential start Application ID (AID) is a constant indicating a number of credentials the reader should expect to receive during a single NFC transaction.

18. The apparatus according to claim 13 wherein the pre-determined multiple-credential start Application ID (AID) further includes an integer variable indicative of a number of credentials desired for presentation during a single read of an NFC secure element registry.

19. The apparatus according to claim 13 wherein a first type of reader device may ignore the pre-determined multiple-credential start Application ID (AID).

20. The apparatus according to claim 19 wherein a second type of reader device may process the pre-determined multiple-credential start Application ID (AID).
