Broadcast messaging in wireless communication networks
View Patent ↗A wireless communication device includes a receiver configured to receive an emergency alert configuration message identifying which sub-message of an emergency broadcast message comprising a collection of sub-messages to be received by the wireless communication device, wherein the wireless communication device is configured to receive only the sub-message of the emergency broadcast message identified by the emergency alert configuration message.
1. A method for receiving an emergency broadcast message in a wireless communication device, the method comprising:
receiving, at the wireless communication device, an emergency alert configuration message,
the emergency alert configuration message identifying which sub-message of an emergency broadcast message comprising a collection of sub-messages to be received by the wireless communication device;
configuring the wireless communication device to receive only the sub-message of the emergency broadcast message in accordance with the emergency alert configuration message; and
receiving only the sub-message of the emergency broadcast message identified by the emergency alert configuration message.
2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the sub-messages of the emergency broadcast message are each in a different language.
3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the sub-messages being intended for reception by different groups of users.
4. A wireless communication device comprising:
a receiver configured to receive an emergency alert configuration message,
the emergency alert configuration message identifying which sub-message of an emergency broadcast message comprising a collection of sub-messages to be received by the wireless communication device;
the wireless communication device configured to receive only the sub-message of the emergency broadcast message identified by the emergency alert configuration message.
5. The device of claim 4 , wherein the sub-messages of the emergency broadcast message are each in a different language.
6. The method of claim 4 , wherein the sub-messages are intended for reception by different groups of users.
