Abstract

A method of aggregating an individual's healthcare information under the individual's control in a personal information aggregator includes receiving a request from a healthcare-related entity to provide the individual's healthcare information. Authorization is received from the individual to receive and store the healthcare information. One or more data feeds containing the individual's healthcare information are received from the healthcare-related entity. At least a portion of the healthcare information contained in the data feeds is stored under the control of the individual.

Claims (55)

1. A computer-implemented method of using a computing device associated with an individual and operating as a personal information aggregator to manage the individual's personal information, the method comprising:

receiving, by the personal information aggregator, an authorization request from a requestor requesting access to at least an authorized portion of the individual's personal information in exchange for one or more incentives to participate in one or more future transactions;

establishing, by the personal information aggregator, a data destruction agreement with the requestor requiring the requestor to destroy, upon notification by the individual of the occurrence of a condition, any received copy of the authorized portion of the individual's personal information;

authorizing, by the personal information aggregator, access to at least the authorized portion of the individual's personal information based on the data destruction agreement;

transmitting, by the personal information aggregator, a copy of at least the authorized portion of the individual's personal information to the requestor; and

receiving, by the personal information aggregator, a first incentive, of the one or more incentives, to participate in the one or more future transactions generated based on the copy of at least the authorized portion of the individual's personal information.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

creating, by the personal information aggregator, a data termination alert associated with the data destruction agreement.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the creating the data usage termination alert comprises:

generating, by the personal information aggregator, an expiration time associated with the copy of the authorized portion of the individual's personal information; and

setting, by the personal information aggregator, a timer value to an initial condition.

4. The method of claim 2 , further comprising:

receiving, by the personal information aggregator, a termination confirmation message; and

storing, by the personal information aggregator, an indication that the termination confirmation message was received.

5. The method of claim 3 , further comprising:

determining, by the personal information aggregator, that the timer value is greater than or equal to the expiration time associated with the copy of the authorized portion of the individual's personal information; and

determining, by the personal information aggregator, whether a termination confirmation message has been received from the requestor.

6. The method of claim 5 , further comprising:

determining, by the personal information aggregator, that the termination confirmation message was not received from the requestor; and

presenting, by the personal information aggregator, an indication that the termination confirmation message was not received.

7. The method of claim 5 , further comprising:

determining, by the personal information aggregator, that the termination confirmation message was not received from the requestor; and

sending, by the personal information aggregator, a request for the termination confirmation message to the requestor.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein data destruction agreement requires the requestor to destroy any received copy of the authorized portion of the individual's personal information after notification of a single use by the requestor.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein requestor is an employer of the individual and the data destruction agreement requires the requestor to destroy any received copy of the authorized portion of the individual's personal information when notified that the individual is no longer employed by the requestor.

10. A computer-implemented method of retrieving an individual's personal information from a personal information aggregator, the method comprising:

sending, by a requestor computer, an authorization request for a requestor to access to at least a portion of the individual's personal information, wherein the authorization request includes an indication that one or more incentives to participate in one or more future transactions will be provided to the individual in exchange for access to the individual's personal information;

receiving, by the requestor computer, a proposed data destruction agreement in response to the authorization request, wherein the proposed data destruction agreement requires the requestor to destroy any received copy of the authorized portion of the individual's personal information upon notification by the individual of the occurrence of a condition;

sending, by the requestor computer, an indication of acceptance of proposed data destruction agreement;

receiving, by the requestor computer, authorization access to at least the authorized portion of the individual's personal information based on the data destruction agreement; and

retrieving, by the requestor computer, a copy of at least the authorized portion of the individual's personal information from the personal information aggregator;

generating, by the requestor computer, a first incentive, of the one or more incentives, to participate in the one or more future transactions based on the copy of at least the authorized portion of the individual's personal information; and

providing, by the requestor computer, the first incentive to the personal information aggregator.

11. The method of claim 10 , further comprising:

receiving, by the requestor computer, notification of a first occurrence of the condition associated with the data destruction agreement; and

deleting, by the requestor computer, the copy of the authorized portion of the individual's personal information.

12. The method of claim 11 , further comprising:

sending, by the requestor computer, an indication of the deletion to the personal information aggregator.

13. The method of claim 10 , further comprising:

receiving, by the requestor computer, an alert from the personal information aggregator indicating that the condition associated with the data destruction agreement has occurred; and

deleting, by the requestor computer, the copy of the authorized portion of the individual's personal information in response to the alert.

14. The method of claim 10 , wherein data destruction agreement requires the requestor to destroy the any received copy of the authorized portion of the individual's personal information after notification of a single use by the requestor.

15. The method of claim 10 , wherein requestor is an employer of the individual and the data destruction agreement requires the requestor to destroy any received copy of the authorized portion of the individual's personal information when the individual is no longer employed by the requestor.

16. A system for managing an individual's personal information, the system comprising:

a first data receiver configured to receive an authorization request from a requestor requesting access to at least an authorized portion of the individual's personal information in exchange for one or more incentives to participate in one or more future transactions;

a hardware processor configured to establish a data destruction agreement with the requestor requiring the requestor to destroy, upon notification by the individual of the occurrence of a condition, any received copy of the authorized portion of the individual's personal information and further configured to authorize access to at least the authorized portion of the individual's personal information based on the data destruction agreement;

a transmitter configured to transmit a copy of at least the authorized portion of the individual's personal information to the requestor; and

a second data receiver configured to receive a first incentive, of the one or more incentives, to participate in the one or more future transactions generated based on the copy of at least the authorized portion of the individual's personal information.

17. The system of claim 16 , further comprising:

a termination alert module configured to create a data termination alert associated with the data destruction agreement.

18. The system of claim 16 , wherein the receiver is further configured to receive a termination confirmation message from the requestor.

19. The system of claim 18 , further comprising:

a database for storing an indication that the termination confirmation message was received by the requestor.

20. The system of claim 18 , further comprising:

a display for presenting the termination confirmation to a user.
