Abstract

The invention provides methods to treating conditions such as prostate cancer, or for ameliorating one or more symptoms associated with prostate cancer, or for agents that modulate the biological activity of the androgen receptor. The invention also provides methods and compositions suitable for therapeutic applications.

Claims (26)

1. A compound wherein the compound is a group 7 compound selected from the group consisting of

wherein R 25 is —H, —CH 2 OH, —CH 2 OC(O)CH 3 , —OC(O)CH 3 or —CH 2 OC(O)OCH 3 .

8. A pharmaceutical formulation consisting of one or more excipients and a group 7 compound of claim 1 .

9. The pharmaceutical formulation of claim 8 wherein the pharmaceutical formulation is a dosage form for oral administration.

10. The pharmaceutical formulation of claim 8 wherein the pharmaceutical formulation is a dosage form for parenteral administration.

11. A method to treat prostate cancer, benign prostatic hyperplasia or breast cancer in a patient in need thereof comprising administering to the patient an effective amount of a compound of claim 1 .

12. The method of claim 11 wherein the androgen responsive disease is prostate cancer.

13. A compound wherein the compound is

14. The compound of claim 13 wherein the compound is isolated and purified.

15. The compound of claim 13 wherein the isolated and purified compound is in the form of a powder or granule.

16. A pharmaceutical formulation consisting of one or more excipients and a compound of claim 13 .

17. The pharmaceutical formulation of claim 16 wherein the pharmaceutical formulation is a dosage form for oral administration.

18. The pharmaceutical formulation of claim 16 wherein the pharmaceutical formulation is a dosage form for parenteral administration.

19. A method to treat prostate cancer, benign prostatic hyperplasia or breast cancer in a patient in need thereof comprising administering to the patient an effective amount of a compound of claim 13 .

20. The method of claim 19 wherein the androgen responsive disease is prostate cancer.
