Abstract

Embodiments provided herein may comprise eyewear such as spectacle frames, eyeglasses, lens housings, etc. that may move (or otherwise adjust a position) such that the lenses of the eyewear move relative to a wearer's eye. The movement of the frames may be such that one or more optical zones of the lenses are positioned in front of a wearer's eye (or in a more operable viewing position). Embodiments may comprise a movable member that may be utilized to adjust the position of the lens, as well as various mechanisms for adjusting the position of the movable member.

Claims (49)

1 .- 129 . (canceled)

130 . Eyewear comprising:

a lens housing;

a first temple and a second temple coupled to the lens housing;

a lens supported by the lens housing;

a movable member coupled to the lens housing, the first temple, or the second temple, wherein the movable member is configured to move between a first position and a second position, and wherein a position of the lens is based at least in part on the position of the movable member; and

a mechanism adapted to adjust the position of the movable member automatically or semi-automatically.

131 . The eyewear of claim 130 , wherein the mechanism is configured to adjust the position of the movable member using both a pull force and a push force.

132 . The eyewear of claim 130 , wherein the mechanism is configured to continuously adjust the position of the movable member between the first position and the second position.

133 . The eyewear of claim 130 , wherein the mechanism is configured to adjust the position of the movable member to a third position that is located between the first and the second position.

134 . The eyewear of claim 130 , wherein the mechanism is configured to adjust the position of the movable member while the eyewear is worn by a wearer.

135 . The eyewear of claim 130 ,

wherein the mechanism comprises an actuator, and

wherein the actuator is configured to adjust the position of the movable member between the first and the second positions.

136 . The eyewear of claim 135 , wherein the actuator comprises one or more micro-motors or micro-pumps.

137 . The eyewear of claim 135 , wherein the actuator further comprises at least two of:

a sensing mechanism configured to receive a signal to drive the movable member;

a controller configured to receive a signal from the sensing mechanism and to determine whether to adjust the position of the movable member; and

a power source.

138 . The eyewear of claim 130 , wherein the lens comprises a progressive addition lens.

139 . The eyewear of claim 138 , wherein the lens comprises a progressive addition surface.

140 . The eyewear of claim 138 , wherein the progressive addition surface comprises a short channel or a long channel.

141 . The eyewear of claim 130 , wherein the lens comprises at least two optical zones having different optical powers.

142 . The eyewear of claim 130 , wherein the lens comprises exactly three optical zones having different optical powers.

143 . The eyewear of claim 130 , wherein the lens comprises five or more optical zones having different optical powers.

144 . The eyewear of claim 130 ,

wherein the mechanism comprises one or more fluid holding elements coupled to the first temple, the second temple, or the lens housing; and

wherein the position of the movable member is based at least in part on the amount of fluid disposed within the fluid holding element.

145 . The eyewear of claim 144 , wherein the movable member moves from the first position to the second position based on the removal of fluid from the fluid holding element.

146 . The eyewear of claim 145 , wherein the movable member moves from the second position to the first position based on the application of fluid to the fluid holding element.

147 . The eyewear of claim 144 ,

wherein the mechanism comprises a first actuator, and

wherein the first actuator is configured to apply or remove fluid from the fluid holding element.

148 . The eyewear of claim 147 , wherein the actuator and/or the fluid holding element is operatively coupled to the movable member by one or more plastic tubes.

149 . The eyewear of claim 148 , wherein the one or more tubes are disposed at least partially within the lens housing.

150 . Eyewear comprising:

a lens housing;

a first temple and a second temple coupled to the lens housing;

a lens supported by the lens housing;

a fluid holding element integrally coupled to the lens housing, the first temple, or the second temple; and

a movable member coupled to the lens housing, the first temple, or the second temple;

wherein the movable member is configured to move between a first position and a second position based at least in part on an amount of fluid disposed within the fluid holding element; and

wherein a position of the lens is based at least in part on the position of the movable member.

151 . Eyewear comprising:

a lens housing;

a first temple and a second temple coupled to the lens housing;

a lens supported by the lens housing;

a movable member coupled to the lens housing, the first temple, or the second temple, wherein the movable member is configured to move between a first position and a second position, and wherein a position of the lens is based at least in part on the position of the movable member; and

a mechanism adapted to adjust the position of the movable member, wherein the mechanism is integrally coupled to the first or the second temple.
