Abstract

An apparatus for facilitating the connection of tubulars using a top drive, the apparatus having a supporting member connectable to said top drive characterized in that it further comprises an internal tool for engaging said tubular and an external clamping device for engaging said tubular.

Claims (4)

1 . A method for connecting tubulars using a top drive, comprising:

providing an internal clamping tool having radially movable gripping elements;

gripping a first tubular using the internal clamping tool; and

connecting the first tubular to a second tubular.
