Abstract

A hardware overvoltage disconnecting circuit wherein a DC power supply module is disconnected from a power network when the AC power network is in the state of overvoltage. The circuit includes a disconnecting relay and a voltage detection circuit. The disconnecting relay is connected in series between an AC power network and a power factor correction circuit of a power supply module. A first sampling terminal of the voltage detection circuit samples the voltage of the AC power network between the AC power network and the disconnecting relay, and an output of the voltage detection circuit is connected to a control terminal of the disconnecting relay. When the AC power network is in the state of overvoltage, the disconnecting relay is disconnected and the power supply module is disconnected from the AC power network. When the voltage of the AC power network is normal, the disconnecting relay is connected.

Claims (24)

1. A system, comprising:

a disconnecting relay connected between an AC power network and a power factor correction circuit, wherein the disconnecting relay selectively disconnects the AC power network from the power factor correction circuit; and

a voltage detection circuit that receives a first voltage of the AC power network, wherein the voltage detection circuit includes a peak-holding subcircuit that receives the first voltage and maintains a first output indicative of a peak value of the first voltage, and wherein the voltage detection circuit selectively actuates the disconnecting relay based on the first output, and wherein the voltage detection circuit is powered by an auxiliary power supply that is connected to outputs of the power factor correction circuit.

2. The system of claim 1 wherein the peak-holding subcircuit includes an operational amplifier having a first terminal that communicates with the first voltage, and a second terminal that communicates with a resistance-capacitance (RC) subcircuit.

3. The system of claim 2 wherein the operational amplifier has an output terminal that communicates with an input of a diode, wherein the diode communicates with the RC subcircuit and generates the first output.

4. The system of claim 2 wherein the voltage detection circuit includes a comparator that receives the first output and a reference voltage.

5. The system of claim 4 wherein the voltage detection circuit selectively actuates the disconnecting relay based on a comparison between the first output and the reference voltage.

6. The system of claim 1 wherein the voltage detection circuit includes a busbar detection subcircuit that receives a second voltage that corresponds to a DC busbar.

7. The system of claim 6 wherein the busbar detection subcircuit includes a comparator that receives the second voltage and a reference voltage.

8. The system of claim 7 wherein the busbar detection subcircuit generates a second output based on a comparison between the second voltage and the reference voltage.

9. The system of claim 8 wherein the voltage detection circuit selectively actuates the disconnecting relay based on the first output and the second output.

10. A method comprising:

providing a disconnecting relay between an AC power network and a power factor correction circuit;

maintaining a first output indicative of a peak value of a first voltage received from the AC power network; and

selectively actuating the disconnecting relay to disconnect the AC power network from the power factor correction circuit based on the first output, and wherein the voltage detection circuit is powered by an auxiliary power supply that is connected to outputs of the power factor correction circuit.

11. The method of claim 10 further comprising:

receiving the first voltage at an operational amplifier; and

communicating with a resistance-capacitance (RC) subcircuit using the operational amplifier.

12. The method of claim 11 further comprising receiving the first output at a comparator.

13. The method of claim 12 further comprising receiving a reference voltage at the comparator.

14. The method of claim 13 further comprising determining the first output based on a comparison between the first output and the reference voltage.

15. The method of claim 10 further comprising receiving a second voltage corresponding to a DC busbar.

16. The method of claim 15 further comprising generating a second output based on a comparison between the second voltage and a reference voltage.

17. The method of claim 16 further comprising selectively actuating the disconnecting relay based on the first output and the second output.
