Abstract

A call from a caller to an interactive voice response (IVR) system may be serviced based on behavior by the caller in one or more prior calls to the IVR system. The call may be serviced by predicting information to be used in servicing the call. Predicting such information may include analyzing data reflecting behavior by the caller in one or more prior calls to the IVR system.

Claims (34)

1. A method for servicing a call between a caller and an interactive voice response (IVR) system, the method comprising:

using at least one processor to perform:

identifying data reflecting behavior by one or more other callers, in one or more prior calls with the IVR system, whose identifying information at least partially matches information identifying the caller; and

servicing the call by predicting information to be used in servicing the call, wherein the predicting comprises analyzing the identified data reflecting behavior by one or more other callers in the one or more prior calls with the IVR system, wherein each of the one or more other callers is different from the caller.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the behavior by the one or more other callers during the one or more prior calls comprised requesting a service provided by the IVR system, and wherein the predicting further comprises:

predicting that the caller is calling to request the service by analyzing data reflecting the behavior of the one or more other callers during the one or more prior calls.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the information identifying the caller comprises a telephone number and the identifying comprises:

identifying the data reflecting behavior by the one or more other callers by identifying data related to callers whose telephone number at least partially matches the telephone number.

4. The method of claim 3 , wherein identifying data related to callers whose telephone number at least partially matches the telephone number comprises identifying data related to callers calling from a same area code as the caller.

5. The method of claim 3 , wherein identifying data related to callers whose telephone number at least partially matches the telephone number comprises identifying data related to callers calling from a same business as the caller.

6. The method claim 1 , wherein the one or more other callers conducted the one or more prior calls with the IVR system within a day of the call between the caller and the IVR system.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more other callers conducted the one or more prior calls with the IVR system within a week of the call between the caller and the IVR system.

8. A system for servicing a call between a caller and an interactive voice response (IVR) system, the system comprising:

at least one processor programmed to:

identify data reflecting behavior by one or more other callers, in one or more prior calls with the IVR system, whose identifying information at least partially matches information identifying the caller; and

service the call by predicting information to be used in servicing the call, wherein the predicting comprises analyzing the identified data reflecting behavior by one or more other callers in one or more prior calls with the IVR system, wherein each of the one or more other callers is different from the caller.

9. The system of claim 8 , wherein the behavior by the one or more other callers during the one or more prior calls comprised requesting a service provided by the IVR system, and wherein the at least one processor is programmed to:

predict that the caller is calling to request the service by analyzing data reflecting the behavior of the one or more other callers during the one or more prior calls.

10. The system of claim 8 , wherein the information identifying the caller comprises a telephone number and the at least one processor is programmed to:

identify the data reflecting behavior by the one or more other callers by identifying data related to callers whose telephone number at least partially matches the telephone number.

11. The system of claim 10 , wherein identifying data related to callers whose telephone number at least partially matches the telephone number comprises identifying data related to callers calling from a same area code as the caller.

12. The system of claim 10 , wherein identifying data related to callers whose telephone number at least partially matches the telephone number comprises identifying data related to callers calling from a same business as the caller.

13. The system of claim 8 , wherein the one or more other callers conducted the one or more prior calls with the IVR system within a day of the call between the caller and the IVR system.

14. The system of claim 8 , wherein the one or more other callers conducted the one or more prior calls with the IVR system within a week of the call between the caller and the IVR system.

15. An interactive voice response (IVR) system configured to service calls from a plurality of callers, the IVR system comprising:

a dialog module configured to gather information for the IVR system, wherein for a call from a caller, the dialog module is configured to gather at least some of the information used by the IVR system to service the call based at least in part on data reflecting behavior by one or more other callers in one or more prior calls with the IVR system, wherein identifying information of the one or more callers at least partially matches information identifying the caller, and wherein each of the one or more other callers is different from the caller,

wherein the data reflecting behavior by the one or more other callers is identified by using information identifying the caller.

16. The IVR system of claim 15 , further comprising:

a predictor module configured to predict, from the data, the at least some of the information used by the IVR system to service the call,

wherein the dialog module is further configured to gather the at least some of the information used by the IVR system to service the call based at least in part on output of the predictor module.

17. The IVR system of claim 15 , wherein the information identifying the caller comprises a telephone number and the predictor module is further configured to:

identify the data reflecting behavior by the one or more other callers by identifying data related to callers whose telephone number at least partially matches the telephone number.

18. The IVR system of claim 15 , wherein the one or more other callers conducted the one or more prior calls with the IVR system within a day of the call between the caller and the IVR system.

19. The IVR system of claim 15 , wherein the one or more other callers conducted the one or more prior calls with the IVR system within a week of the call between the caller and the IVR system.
