Abstract

The present invention relates to a solar power generation display assembly and methods for providing same involving solar arrays in a display of designated indicia, each solar array containing one or more electronically linked solar modules or cells of a crystalline or amorphous type and other modules. The solar modules and/or portions of the solar modules and other module portions and/or portions of the other module portions within each specific array or display may be static or manipulated electronically or mechanically to provide an enhanced indicia while a programmable display management system enables operation of electrical and mechanical management sub-systems for displaying the indicia.

Claims (26)

1. A solar power generation display assembly comprising:

a plurality of solar modules in the form of first design elements; and

a plurality of other modules in the form of second design elements, wherein the plurality of solar modules and the plurality of other modules are arranged in a design to form a designated indicia including the first design elements and the second design elements and wherein the designated indicia is mapped to an indicia display to determine positioning of the first design elements for the plurality of solar modules and the second design elements for the plurality of other modules.

2. The solar power generation display assembly of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of solar modules and the plurality of other modules are formed on an indicia display having a front surface, a back surface, a first end, a second end, a top end and a bottom end.

3. The solar power generation display assembly of claim 2 , further comprising a support structure that supports the indicia display.

4. The solar power generation display assembly of claim 3 , wherein the support structure comprises at least one support column having a first end connected to a ground surface and extending substantially vertically along a longitudinal axis from the first end to a second end and further comprises at least one second support structure disposed at the second end of the support column of the first support structure, the second support structure configured so as to provide support for the indicia display.

5. The solar power generation display assembly of claim 2 , wherein the front surface of the indicia display further comprises at least two multi-sided displays having at least two sides, wherein the plurality of solar modules are disposed on at least one of the sides of the multi-sided displays and the plurality of other modules are disposed on at least one of another of the sides of the multi-sided displays.

6. The solar power generation display assembly of claim 4 , wherein the multi-sided displays having at least three sides and further comprise rotational elements to permit the multi-sided displays to rotate around a pivot axis in order to display different sides of the multi-sided displays.

7. The solar power generation display assembly of claim 4 , wherein the multi-sided displays are rotated based on at least one of solar-tracking, image display, and timing considerations.

8. The solar power generation display assembly of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of solar modules comprise at least one of photovoltaic cells, a photovoltaic thin film, a light concentrator type of solar panel, and a solar thermal system.

9. The solar power generation display assembly of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of solar modules and the plurality of other modules are determined based on pixelating the designated indicia.

10. The solar power generation display assembly of claim 9 , wherein pixelating the designated indicia further comprises pixel mapping the designated indicia to create first design elements for the solar modules and second design elements for the other modules in the form of at least one of a dot matrix type design, a pixilated type design, a grid design and a panel design.

11. The solar power generation display assembly of claim 1 , wherein each of the plurality of solar modules is separately controlled and feed power to an electrical management system.

12. The solar power generation display assembly of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of other modules includes at least one display module controlled by a management system.

13. A solar power generation display assembly comprising:

a suspended medium comprising a plurality of solar modules in the form of first design elements and a plurality of other modules in the form of second design elements, wherein the plurality of solar modules and the plurality of other modules are arranged in a design to form a flag image made up of the first design elements and the second design elements and wherein the flag image is mapped to the suspended medium to determine positioning of the first design elements for the plurality of solar modules and the second design elements for the plurality of other modules; and

a support structure that supports the suspended medium.

14. The solar power generation display assembly of claim 13 , wherein the support structure comprises at least one support column having a first end connected to a ground surface and extending substantially vertically along a longitudinal axis from the first end to a second end and further comprises at least one second support structure disposed at the second end of the support column of the first support structure, the second support structure configured so as to provide support for the suspended medium.

15. The solar power generation display assembly of claim 13 , wherein the plurality of solar modules comprise at least one of photovoltaic cells, a photovoltaic thin film, a light concentrator type of solar panel, and a solar thermal system.

16. The solar power generation display assembly of claim 13 , wherein the plurality of solar modules are formed from flexible photovoltaic laminate modules such that the suspended medium is flexible.

17. The solar power generation display assembly of claim 13 , wherein at least a portion of the plurality of solar modules and the plurality of other modules are raised.

18. The solar power generation display assembly of claim 13 , wherein at least a portion of the plurality of solar modules and the plurality of other modules are arranged to form a star element.

19. The solar power generation display assembly of claim 13 , wherein at least a portion of the plurality of solar modules and the plurality of other modules are arranged to form a stripe element.

20. The solar power generation display assembly of claim 13 , wherein at least a portion of the plurality of solar modules and the plurality of other modules comprise at least one of a color and a texture.

21. The solar power generation display assembly of claim 13 , wherein the flag image is pixel mapped to determine positioning of the plurality of solar modules within the suspended medium and positioning of the plurality of other modules within the suspended medium.

22. The solar power generation display assembly of claim 13 , wherein the plurality of solar modules and the plurality of other modules are determined based on pixelating the designated indicia.
