Abstract

Data including information regarding a display of the host device may be received. A display of a client device may correspond to the display of the host device. Information regarding the display of the host device may be received and evaluated to identify commands related to the display of the host device. The identified commands are encoded for a browser associated with the client device. A bitstream describing the display of the host device may be generated to incorporate the encoded commands. The bitstream may then be provided to a client device, where the display of the client device is rendered using a browser. As such, the display of the client device continues to correspond to the host device.

Claims (36)

1. A method for client rendering of cross-platform display, the method comprising:

receiving a request sent over a communication network, wherein the received request is for rendering data regarding a display on a display screen of a host device to be rendered on a display screen of a client device by an associated browser on the client device, and wherein the browser display of the client device corresponds to the display on the display screen of the host device;

executing instructions stored in memory, wherein execution of instructions by a processor:

detects information corresponding to a current display on the display screen of the host device, wherein the detected information specifies information to be transmitted to the client device and used to render a corresponding display on the display screen of the client device, wherein the rendered display on the display screen of the client device corresponds to the current display on the display screen of the host device,

detects one or more rendering commands being executed at the host device, wherein the detected rendering commands are executed via an application at the host device to change the display on the display screen of the host device and, wherein the detected rendering commands are not compatible with the client device,

encodes the detected rendering commands of the host device that are not compatible with the client device into commands for execution by the browser associated with the client device, wherein the browser executes the encoded commands on the client device to render the corresponding display on the display screen of the client device, wherein the rendered display on the display screen of the client device corresponds to the current display on the display screen of the host device, and wherein other client devices are associated with different one or more browsers, and

generates a bitstream that is provided from the host device to the client device over the communication network, wherein the generated bitstream includes the encoded commands, and wherein the browser at the client device executes the encoded commands to newly render an updated display on the display screen of the client device, and wherein the updated display of the client device corresponds to the changed display on the display screen of the host device subsequent to execution of the detected rendering commands.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the rendering commands are selected from the group consisting of drawing commands, vector graphics, and image rendering.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising determining that the rendering commands are incompatible with the client device, the browser of the client device, or client device applications.

The method of claim 1 , wherein the change to the display on the display screen of the host device comprises a new line or other image, and wherein execution of the encoded commands by the browser of the client device results in a corresponding line or other image in the updated client device browser display.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the host device and the client device have different operating system environments.

6. the method of claim 1 , wherein the browser of the client device is specific to an operating system environment of the client device.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the rendering commands correspond to a command from a 3D library at the client device.

8. An apparatus for client rendering of cross-platform display, the apparatus comprising:

a communication interface for receiving a request sent over a communication network, wherein the received request for rendering data regarding a display on a display screen of a host device to be rendered on a display screen of a client device by an associated browser on the client device, and wherein the browser display of the client device corresponds to the display on the display screen of the host device; and

a processor for executing instructions stored in memory, wherein execution of instructions by the processor:

detects information corresponding to a current display on the display screen of the host device, wherein the detected information specifies information to be transmitted to the client device and used to render a corresponding display on the display screen of the client device, wherein the rendered display on the display screen of the client device corresponds to the current display on the display screen of the host device,

detects one or more rendering commands being executed at the host device, wherein the detected rendering commands are executed via an application at the host device to change the display on the display screen of the host device and, wherein the detected rendering commands are not compatible with the client device,

encodes the detected rendering commands of the host device that are not compatible with the client device into commands for execution by the browser associated with the client device, wherein the browser executes the encoded commands on the client device to render the corresponding display on the display screen of the client device, wherein the rendered display on the display screen of the client device corresponds to the current display on the display screen of the host device, and wherein other client devices are associated with different one or more browsers, and

generates a bitstream that includes the encoded commands regarding the current display on the display screen of the host device, wherein the communication interface provides the bitstream from the host device to the client device over the communication network, and wherein the browser at the client device executes the encoded commands to newly render an updated display on the display screen of the client device, and wherein the updated display of the client device corresponds to the changed display on the display screen of the host device subsequent to execution of the detected rendering commands.

9. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the rendering commands are selected from the group consisting of drawing commands, vector graphics, and image rendering.

10. The apparatus of claim 8 , further comprising determining that the rendering commands are incompatible with the client device, the browser of the client device, or client device applications.

The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the change to the display on the display screen of the host device comprises a new line or other image, and wherein execution of the encoded commands by the browser of the client device results in a corresponding line or other image in the updated client device browser display.

12. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the host device and the client device have different operating system environments.

13. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the browser of the client device is specific to an operating system environment of the client device.

14. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium, having embodied thereon a program executable by a processor to perform a method for client rendering of cross-platform display, the method comprising:

receiving a request sent over a communication network, wherein the received request is for rendering data regarding a display on a display screen of a host device to be rendered on a display screen of a client device by an associated browser on the client device, and wherein the browser display of the client device corresponds to the display on the display screen of the host device;

detecting information corresponding to a current display on the display screen of the host device, wherein the detected information specifies information to be transmitted to the client device and used to render a corresponding display on the display screen of the client device, wherein the rendered display on the display screen of the client device corresponds to the current display on the display screen of the host device,

detecting one or more rendering commands being executed at the host device, wherein the detected rendering commands are executed via an application at the host device to change the display on the display screen of the host device and, wherein the detected rendering commands are not compatible with the client device;

encoding the detected rendering commands of the host device that are not compatible with the client device into commands for execution by the browser associated with the client device, wherein the browser executes the encoded commands on the client device to render the corresponding display on the display screen of the client device, wherein the rendered display on the display screen of the client device corresponds to the current display on the display screen of the host device, and wherein other client devices are associated with different one or more browsers; and

generates a bitstream that is provided from the host device to the client device over the communication network, wherein the generated bitstream includes the encoded commands, and wherein the browser at the client device executes the encoded commands to newly render an updated display on the display screen of the client device, and wherein the updated display of the client device corresponds to the changed display on the display screen of the host device subsequent to execution of the detected rendering commands.

15. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 14 , wherein the rendering commands are selected from the group consisting of drawing commands, vector graphics, and image rendering.

16. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 14 , further comprising determining that the rendering commands are incompatible with the client device, the browser of the client device, or client device applications.

17. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 14 , wherein the change to the display on the display screen of the host device comprises a new line or other image, and wherein execution of the encoded commands by the browser of the client device results in a corresponding line or other image in the updated client device browser display.

18. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 14 , wherein the host device and the client device have different operating system environments.

19. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 14 , wherein the browser of the client device is specific to an operating system environment of the client device.
