SECONDARY SINGLE SCREEN MODE ACTIVATION THROUGH USER INTERFACE TOGGLE
Methods and devices for selectively presenting a user interface on a second screen. More particularly, the method includes a change in the display mode of a multiple screen device from a first screen to a second screen while the device is closed. The change in the display mode may be made in response to a request from an application. The application may be executed and have the user interface window associated with the application moved to a second screen. The change to the second screen can be requested based on input into the application or automatically generated based on the type of application. In response to the request from the application, the device can render the user interface in the second screen.
1 . A method, comprising:
providing a device having at least first and second screens, wherein the device is in a closed state, and wherein, in the closed state, the first and second screens face opposite directions;
executing an application;
in a first display mode, presenting a first user interface on a first screen;
receiving an input from the application, wherein the input includes a request to toggle to a second display mode, wherein the second display mode includes displaying a user interface associated with the application on the second screen;
in response to the request, switching to the second screen; and
presenting the user interface associated with the application on the second screen.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the application receives input from a user that causes the application to send the input.
4 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the application is a camera application.
5 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the application is executed from an application store.
6 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the screen toggle is sent automatically based on a type of application.
7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein, in response to the request, the device changes a state of the device to the second display mode.
8 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the first user interface is the application user interface.
9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the first use interface is re-rendered on the second screen.
10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the application user interface on the second screen can be viewed by the user when taking a picture.
11 . A device, comprising:
a first screen, the first screen including a touch sensitive display area;
a second screen, wherein the second screen faces an opposite direction from the first screen when the device is closed, wherein in a first display mode the first screen is in view of the user;
a memory;
a processor in communication with the memory, the first screen, and the second screen, the processor operable to:
execute an application;
in a first display mode, present a first user interface associated with an application on a first screen;
receive an input from the application, wherein the input includes a request to toggle to a second display mode, wherein the second display mode includes displaying a the first user interface on the second screen;
in response to the request, switch to the second screen; and
present the first user interface on the second screen.
12 . The device of claim 11 , wherein the application receives input from a user that causes the application to send the input.
13 . The device of claim 11 , wherein the application is executed from an application store.
14 . The device of claim 11 , wherein the screen toggle is sent automatically based on a type of application.
15 . The device of claim 14 , wherein the first use interface is re-rendered on the second screen.
16 . A computer readable medium having stored thereon computer-executable instructions, the computer executable instructions causing a processor of a device to execute a method for providing a user interface, wherein the device has at least first and second screens, wherein the device is in a closed state, and wherein, in the closed state, the first and second screens face opposite directions, the computer-executable instructions comprising:
instructions to execute an application;
in a first display mode, instructions to present a first user interface associated with an application on a first screen;
instructions to receive an input from the application, wherein the input includes a request to toggle to a second display mode, wherein the second display mode includes displaying a the first user interface on the second screen;
in response to the request, instructions to switch to the second screen; and
instructions to present the first user interface on the second screen.
17 . The computer readable medium of claim 16 , wherein the application receives input from a user that causes the application to send the input.
18 . The computer readable medium of claim 17 , wherein the application is executed from an application store.
19 . The computer readable medium of claim 18 , wherein the screen toggle is sent automatically based on a type of application.
20 . The computer readable medium of claim 18 , wherein the first use interface is re-rendered on the second screen.
