Abstract

A packaging assembly is disclosed. The packaging assembly is easily assembled and disassembled for convenient use and provides suspension of an enclosed article by way of an arched structure providing protection from impact, shock and vibration.

Claims (33)

1 - 30 . (canceled)

31 . A method of making a packaging assembly comprising:

fixedly attaching an article on a resilient member,

folding an end portion of the resilient member at an angle relative to a portion of the resilient member, and

forming an arched portion of the resilient member.

32 . The method of making a packaging assembly of claim 31 further comprising providing a retention member configured to interface with the arched member.

33 . The method of making a packaging assembly of claim 32 wherein said configuration is sized to substantially the same size as the arched member.

34 . The method of making a packaging assembly of claim 32 wherein said configuration is shaped to substantially the same shape as the arched member.

35 . The method of making a packaging assembly of claim 32 wherein said retention member is elastically deformed.

36 . The method of making a packaging assembly of claim 32 wherein said retention member is plastically deformed.

37 . The method of making a packaging assembly of claim 32 further comprising attaching said retention member to said arched member with adhesive.

38 . The method of making a packaging assembly of claim 35 wherein said retention member is deformed by pressing a frame member thereon.

39 . The method of making a packaging assembly of claim 36 wherein said retention member is deformed by pressing a frame member thereon.

40 . The method of making a packaging assembly of claim 32 further comprising providing a frame member having an opening.

41 . The method of making a packaging assembly of claim 32 further comprising providing a frame member having a plurality of openings.

42 . The method of making a packaging assembly of claim 31 further comprising providing a frame member having an opening.

43 . The method of making a packaging assembly of claim 31 further comprising providing a frame member having a plurality of openings.

44 . The method of making a packaging assembly of claim 42 wherein said frame member has substantially the same perimeter shape as the arched member.

45 . The method of making a packaging assembly of claim 43 wherein said frame member has substantially the same perimeter shape as the arched member.

46 - 56 . (canceled)

57 . A package assembly, comprising:

a container having a bottom surface connected to a first inside side panel opposite a second inside side panel; and

an arched member for holding an article inside of the container;

wherein the arched member is comprised of a generally planar material that is shaped into an arched state defined at its outer periphery by a first substantially linear side opposite a second substantially linear side and a first arched curve opposite a second arched curve, the first and the second arched curves connecting the first and the second substantially linear sides, said arched member, except for the first and the second substantially linear sides, lying substantially outside of a plane containing the first and the second substantially linear sides; and

wherein at least one of the first and the second substantially linear sides is substantially adjacent one of the first and the second inside side panels.

58 - 78 . (canceled)

79 . A system, comprising:

a container having a bottom surface connected to a first inside side panel opposite a second inside side panel;

an article of manufacture; and

an arched member holding the article inside of the container;

wherein the arched member is comprised of a generally planar material that is shaped into an arched state defined at its outer periphery by a first substantially linear side opposite a second substantially linear side and a first arched curve opposite a second arched curve, the first and the second arched curves connecting the first and the second substantially linear sides, said arched member, except for the first and the second substantially linear sides, lying substantially outside of a plane containing the first and the second substantially linear sides; and

wherein at least one of the first and the second substantially linear sides is substantially adjacent one of the first and the second inside side panels.

80 - 146 . (canceled)
