Abstract

Automatic pool cleaners and associated hoses are detailed. Hoses may contract and expand in use and include sections of differing compliancies. Such contractions and expansions may be intensified in more compliant portions and attenuated in less compliant portions. Also discussed are positive locking mechanisms for adjacent hose sections.

Claims (9)

1. In a pool-cleaning system containing water, a pool suction-hose section for use in water of a pool and having a wall having an exterior surface and first and second ends, the first end having a plurality of clips and the second end defining a plurality of recesses in the exterior surface of the wall, the clips in use being received by the recesses in the exterior surface of a wall of an adjacent pool suction-hose section (i) without penetrating the wall thereof and (ii) so as to place pressure on the exterior surface of the wall thereof.

2. In a pool-cleaning system containing water:

an automatic pool cleaner having a plurality of either clips or recesses; and

a hose section for use in water of a pool and having a plurality of either recesses or clips, the clips of either the automatic pool cleaner or the hose section being received in use by the recesses of the other of the automatic pool cleaner or the hose section, the clips and recesses forming means for interlocking the automatic pool cleaner and the hose section.

3. The system according to claim 2 in which the hose section is flexible.

4. The system according to claim 2 further comprising a flexible hose section attached to the hose section.

5. The system according to claim 2 in which each clip comprises a tab and a protrusion, the tab being depressible and the protrusion being received in use by one of the recesses.

6. The system according to claim 2 in which the automatic pool cleaner and the hose section have exterior surfaces and in which the clips are external to, and the recesses are formed in, the exterior surfaces.

7. A pool suction-hose section having a wall having an exterior surface and first and second ends, the first end having a plurality of clips and the second end defining a plurality of recesses in the exterior surface of the wall, the clips in use being received by the recesses in the exterior surface of a wall of an adjacent pool suction-hose section (i) without penetrating the wall thereof and (ii) so as to place pressure on the exterior surface of the wall thereof, and in which each clip comprises a tab and a protrusion, the tab being depressible and the protrusion being received in use by one of the recesses.
