Method and apparatus for application of mortar
View Patent ↗An apparatus for applying mortar is provided. The apparatus includes a spray head adapted to receive a pumped mortar and liquid mixture and spray the mixture in a direction perpendicular to a direction of travel of the mortar and liquid mixture into the spray head, the spray head oscillating in the direction of travel of the mortar and liquid mixture into the spray head.
1. An apparatus for applying mortar, comprising:
a spray head positioned on a moveable sled and adapted to receive a pumped mortar and liquid mixture via a pump positioned on the moveable sled and spray the mixture in a direction substantially perpendicular to a direction of travel of the mortar and liquid mixture into the spray head, the spray head oscillating in the direction of travel of the mortar and liquid mixture into the spray head, the spray head including trapezoidal orifices;
a mortar delivery conduit for providing mortar to the spray head, and
an intake line placed at a center of the mortar delivery conduit, the intake line for delivering air to the spray head.
2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the apparatus is adapted to be driven in a direction substantially perpendicular to the direction of spray of the mixture.
3. The apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising a wheel providing circular motion for oscillating the spray head.
4. The apparatus of claim 3 , further comprising a linkage provided between the wheel and the spray head.
5. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the spray is sprayed on the inside of a pipe.
6. The apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising a harness for moving the apparatus in a desired direction of travel.
7. The apparatus of claim 6 , wherein the direction of travel is substantially coaxial to a pipe in which the apparatus is positioned.
8. A spray mechanism, comprising: a mortar delivery pipe; an intake line placed at a center of the mortar delivery pipe, the intake line for delivering air to the spray head; and a spray head adapted to be positioned on a moveable sled and to receive a pumped mortar and liquid mixture via the mortar delivery pipe and spray the mixture in a direction substantially perpendicular to a direction of travel of the mortar and liquid mixture through the mortar delivery pipe, the spray head oscillating in the direction of travel of the mortar through the delivery pipe, the spray head including trapezoidal orifices.
9. The spray mechanism of claim 8 , further comprising a material input port for inputting material to be combined with the mortar in the mortar supply pipe at the outlet point of the mortar supply pipe.
10. The spray mechanism of claim 9 , wherein air is further provided via the material input port.
11. A method for applying rehabilitation material to a remediation area, comprising the steps of: delivering a rehabilitation material via a rehabilitation material delivery conduit to a spray head positioned on a moveable sled; mixing a material received via a material input port disposed at a center of the material delivery conduit with the rehabilitation material, the material comprising air; and spraying the mixture to a remediation area while oscillating the spray head in a direction substantially perpendicular to a direction of application of the rehabilitation material, the spray head including trapezoidal orifices.
12. The method of claim 11 , further comprising the step of feathering the application of the rehabilitation material.
13. The method of claim 12 , further comprising the step of moving the spray head in a direction substantially parallel to the direction of oscillation.
14. The method of claim 11 , further comprising the step of spinning the spray head in accordance with a supply of air.
15. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the trapezoidal orifices are elongated.
16. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the spray head includes a portion having rectangular orifices and a conical portion having the trapezoidal orifices.
17. The spray mechanism of claim 16 , wherein the portion having rectangular orifices is elongated.
18. The spray mechanism of claim 8 , wherein the trapezoidal orifices are elongated.
19. The spray mechanism of claim 8 , wherein the spray head includes a portion having rectangular orifices and a conical portion having the trapezoidal orifices.
