Abstract

An organic light-emitting display device including: a first substrate; a second substrate disposed to face the first substrate; a display unit interposed between the first substrate and the second substrate and comprising an organic light-emitting device; a sealing member disposed to surround the display unit between the first substrate and the second substrate and that bonds the first substrate to the second substrate; and a filler disposed in the sealing member to cover the display unit and comprising photochromic materials, wherein the photochromic materials comprise a first photochromic material that absorbs light in a wavelength of about 470 nm to about 490 nm and a second photochromic material that absorbs light in a wavelength of about 550 nm to about 580 nm.

Claims (58)

1. An organic light-emitting display device comprising:

a first substrate;

a second substrate disposed to face the first substrate;

a display unit interposed between the first substrate and the second substrate and comprising an organic light-emitting device;

a sealing member disposed to surround the display unit between the first substrate and the second substrate and that bonds the first substrate to the second substrate; and

a filler disposed in a space defined by the first and second substrates and the sealing member to cover the display unit and comprising photochromic materials, wherein

the photochromic materials comprising a first photochromic material that absorbs light in a wavelength of about 470 nm to about 490 nm and a second photochromic material that absorbs light in a wavelength of about 550 nm to about 580 nm; and

each of the first and second photochromic materials independently comprises a compound represented by Formula 1 below:

wherein R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , R 4 , R 5 , and R 6 are each independently hydrogen, heavy hydrogen, or halogen, and Ar 1 and Ar 2 are each independently a group below:

Y represents O, S, SO, or SO 2 ;

X represents C or N;

* represents a bond;

R 8 represents a C 1 to C 50 alkyl group or a C 5 to C 60 aryl group; and

R 7 and R 9 are each independently an unshared electron pair, hydrogen, heavy hydrogen, or a C 1 to C 50 alkyl group.

2. The organic light-emitting display device of claim 1 , wherein each of the first and second photochromic material comprises independently a compound represented by Formula 2 below:

wherein R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , R 4 , R 5 , and R 6 are each independently hydrogen, heavy hydrogen, or halogen,

X represents C or N;

R 8 represents a C 1 to C 10 alkyl group or a C 6 to C 30 aryl group; and

R 7 and R 9 are each independently an unshared electron pair, hydrogen, heavy hydrogen, or a C 1 to C 10 alkyl group.

3. The organic light-emitting display device of claim 1 , wherein the first photochromic material comprises a compound represented by Formula 3:

in the above Formula, R 8 represents a C 1 to C 10 alkyl group or a C 5 to C 30 aryl group; and R 9 represents hydrogen, heavy hydrogen, or a C 1 to C 10 alkyl group.

4. The organic light-emitting display device of claim 1 , wherein the second photochromic material comprises a compound represented by Formula 4:

in the above Formula, R 8 represents a C 1 to C 10 alkyl group or a C 5 to C 30 aryl group; and R 9 represents hydrogen, heavy hydrogen, or a C 1 to C 10 alkyl group.

5. The organic light-emitting display device of claim 1 , wherein the first photochromic material comprises a compound represented by Formula 3 below; and the second photochromic material comprises a compound represented by Formula 4 below:

in the above Formulae, R 8 represents a C 1 to C 10 alkyl group or a C 5 to C 30 aryl group; and R 9 represents hydrogen, heavy hydrogen, or a C 1 to C 10 alkyl group.

6. The organic light-emitting display device of claim 1 , wherein the first photochromic material comprises a compound represented by Formula 5:

7. The organic light-emitting display device of claim 1 , wherein the second photochromic material comprises a compound represented by Formula 6:

8. The organic light-emitting display device of claim 1 , wherein the first photochromic material comprises a compound represented by Formula 5 below; and the second photochromic material comprises a compound represented by Formula 6 below:

9. The organic light-emitting display device of claim 1 , wherein a ratio of the first photochromic material and the second photochromic material is a molar ratio of 1:2 to 2:1.

10. The organic light-emitting display device of claim 1 , wherein the filler further comprises a binder.

11. The organic light-emitting display device of claim 1 , wherein the filler further comprises an epoxy binder.

12. The organic light-emitting display device of claim 1 , wherein an amount of the photochromic material of the filler is in the range of about 50 to about 70 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the filler.

13. An organic light-emitting display device comprising:

a first substrate;

a second substrate disposed to face the first substrate;

a display unit interposed between the first substrate and the second substrate and comprising an organic light-emitting device;

a sealing member disposed to surround the display unit between the first substrate and the second substrate and that bonds the first substrate to the second substrate; and

a filler disposed in a space defined by the first and second substrates and the sealing member to cover the display unit, the filler comprising:

a first photochromic material comprising a compound absorbing light in a wavelength of about 470 nm to about 490 nm and represented by Formula 1; and

a second photochromic material absorbing light in a wavelength of about 550 nm to about 580 nm and represented by Formula 1:

wherein R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , R 4 , R 5 , and R 6 are each independently hydrogen, heavy hydrogen, or halogen, and Ar 1 and Ar 2 are each independently a group below;

Y represents O, S, SO, or SO 2 ;

X represents C or N;

* represents a bond;

R 8 represents a C 1 to C 50 alkyl group or a C 5 to C 60 aryl group; and

R 7 and R 9 are each independently an unshared electron pair, hydrogen, heavy hydrogen, or a C 1 to C 50 alkyl group;

wherein an amount of the photochromic material of the filler is in the range of about 50 to about 70 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the filler.

14. The organic light-emitting display device of claim 13 , wherein each of the first and second photochromic material comprises independently a compound represented by Formula 2 below:

wherein R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , R 4 , R 5 , and R 6 are each independently hydrogen, heavy hydrogen, or halogen,

X represents C or N;

R 8 represents a C 1 to C 10 alkyl group or a C 6 to C 30 aryl group; and

R 7 and R 9 are each independently an unshared electron pair, hydrogen, heavy hydrogen, or a C 1 to C 10 alkyl group.

15. The organic light-emitting display device of claim 13 , wherein the first photochromic material comprises a compound represented by Formula 3 below; and the second photochromic material comprises a compound represented by Formula 4 below:

in the above Formulae, R 8 represents a C 1 to C 10 alkyl group or a C 5 to C 30 aryl group; and R 9 represents hydrogen, heavy hydrogen, or a C 1 to C 10 alkyl group.

16. The organic light-emitting display device of claim 13 , wherein the first photochromic material comprises a compound represented by Formula 5 below; and the second photochromic material comprises a compound represented by Formula 6 below:

17. The organic light-emitting display device of claim 13 , wherein a ratio of the first photochromic material and the second photochromic material is a molar ratio of 1:2 to 2:1.

18. The organic light-emitting display device of claim 13 , wherein the filler further comprises a binder.

19. The organic light-emitting display device of claim 13 , wherein the filler further comprises an epoxy binder.
