Abstract

A reciprocating compressor is provided. In one embodiment, a reciprocating compressor frame includes a central body and at least two crosshead guides extending from opposite sides of the central body. Additionally, the compressor frame crosshead guide support structures extending outwardly from the central body along a respective crosshead guide. Other embodiments of compression systems, devices, and frames of such systems are also provided.

a fourth support extending along a fourth support plane between the second crosshead guide and the central housing, wherein the third and fourth planes of the third and fourth supports are oriented in a second converging relationship that converges directly from the top surface of the base of the reciprocating compressor frame, along the central housing, to opposite third and fourth side portions of the second crosshead guide, wherein the third and fourth supports are tapered from the central housing to the second crosshead guide.

3. The system of claim 2 , wherein the first and second crosshead guides extend outwardly from opposite sides of the central housing.

4. The system of claim 3 , wherein the first and second axes are aligned with one another.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first and second planes of the first and second supports generally converge toward the first axis.

6. The system of claim 1 , comprising a reciprocating compressor having the reciprocating compressor frame and the first crosshead disposed in the first crosshead guide.

7. The system of claim 6 , comprising a drive coupled to the reciprocating compressor.

8. The system of claim 1 , comprising first and second structural ribs extending lengthwise along the first crosshead guide to the central housing, wherein the first and second structural ribs are disposed on an opposite side of the first crosshead guide relative to the first and second supports.

9. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first and second crosshead guides, the first and second supports, and the central body are formed integrally as a single piece.

10. A system, comprising:

a reciprocating machine frame, comprising:

a central housing having a central axis;

a first crosshead guide extending outwardly from the central housing, wherein the first crosshead guide is configured to support reciprocating movement of a first crosshead along a first axis;

a first support extending along a first support plane between the first crosshead guide and the central housing;

a second support extending along a second support plane between the first crosshead guide and the central housing, wherein the first and second planes of the first and second supports are oriented in a first converging relationship that converges directly from a top surface of a base of the reciprocating machine frame, along the central housing, to opposite first and second side portions of the first crosshead guide;

a second crosshead guide extending outwardly from the central housing, wherein the second crosshead guide is configured to support reciprocating movement of a second crosshead along a second axis;

a third support extending along a third support plane between the second crosshead guide and the central housing;

a fourth support extending along a fourth support plane between the second crosshead guide and the central housing, wherein the third and fourth planes of the third and fourth supports are oriented in a second converging relationship that converges directly from the top surface of the base of the reciprocating machine frame, along the central housing, to opposite third and fourth side portions of the second crosshead guide; and

a common support rib extending longitudinally along the first crosshead guide, across the central housing, and longitudinally along the second crosshead guide.

11. The system of claim 10 , wherein the first and second crosshead guides extend outwardly from opposite sides of the central housing.

12. The system of claim 11 , wherein the first and second axes are aligned with one another.

13. The system of claim 10 , wherein the first and second planes of the first and second supports generally converge toward the first axis, and the third and fourth planes of the third and fourth supports generally converge toward the second axis.

14. The system of claim 10 , comprising a reciprocating machine having the reciprocating machine frame, the first crosshead disposed in the first crosshead guide, and the second crosshead disposed in the second crosshead guide.

15. The system of claim 14 , wherein the reciprocating machine comprises a reciprocating compressor.

16. The system of claim 10 , comprising a first support rib extending longitudinally along the first crosshead guide at a first offset from the common support rib, and a second support rib extending longitudinally along the second crosshead guide at a second offset from the common support rib, wherein the first support rib is disposed on a first side of the common support rib and the second support rib is disposed on a second side of the common support rib opposite from the first side.
