Abstract

An ornamental fixture having a support structure and a plurality of ornaments mounted to the support structure in a substantially completely spherical arrangement of ornaments. The ornaments may be glass crystal ornaments, for example, octagonal glass crystals, and a light may be mounted within the fixture. The support structure may include an upper support ring and at least one lower support ring vertically spaced from the upper support ring and a plurality of arcuate sector assemblies removably mounted to the upper support ring and the at least one lower support ring. The sector assemblies retain the ornaments to provide a substantially continuous 360-degree array of ornaments. The sector assemblies can also be disassembled from the support structure for maintenance, servicing, relamping, and cleaning of the fixture. For example, the disassembled components of the fixture may be washed in a dishwasher without damaging the ornaments or the support structure.

17. The method as recited in claim 1 , wherein the providing the structure comprises providing a plurality of structures arranged side-by-side.

18. The method as recited in claim 17 , wherein said plurality of structures defines a first and a second row of a plurality of ornaments arranged adjacent to each other, and one of said plurality of structures supports a third row of a plurality of ornaments arranged spaced apart from each other, and wherein said third row of the plurality of ornaments is nested between said first and said second row of a plurality of ornaments arranged adjacent to each other.

19. The method as recited in claim 16 , wherein the plate comprises an elongated planar member.

20. The method as recited in claim 1 , further comprising:

providing a plurality of the structures to provide a substantially uninterrupted surrounding arrangement of ornaments.

21. The method as recited in claim 20 , wherein the substantially uninterrupted surrounding arrangement of ornaments defines a sphere.

22. The method as recited in claim 1 , further comprising:

providing a plurality of the structures;

providing a support frame assembly having an upper support and at least one lower support vertically spaced from the upper support; and

mounting the plurality of the structures having the plurality of ornaments attached thereto to the upper support and to the at least one lower support to provide a substantially uninterrupted surrounding arrangement of ornaments around the support structure.

23. The method as recited in claim 22 , wherein the substantially uninterrupted surrounding arrangement of ornaments around the support structure defines a substantially spherical ornamental fixture.

24. An ornament mounting structure comprising:

a plate;

a plurality of pins projecting from the plate,

a plurality of mounting posts projecting from the plate, each of the plurality of mounting posts positioned adjacent one of the plurality of pins, and each of the plurality of mounting posts having a projection projecting toward an adjacent pin; and

wherein each of the plurality of mounting posts is twistable about an axis from a first position where the projection projects towards an adjacent pin to a second position where the adjacent pin is exposed and can penetrate a perforation of a perforated ornament, and wherein each of the plurality of mounting posts is twistable about the axis from the second position towards the adjacent pin and over a portion of the ornament to captivate the perforated ornament.

25. The ornament mounting structure as recited in claim 24 , wherein each of the plurality of mounting posts is plastically twistable about an axis.
