View Patent ↗Bis- and tris-dihydroxyaryl compounds and their methylenedioxy analogs and pharmaceutically acceptable esters, their synthesis, pharmaceutical compositions containing them, and their use in the treatment of amyloid diseases, especially Aβ amyloidosis, such as observed in Alzheimer's disease, IAPP amyloidosis, such as observed in type 2 diabetes, and synucleinopathies, such as observed in Parkinson's disease, and the manufacture of medicaments for such treatment.
1. A compound of the formula: A-R—B or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof where,
R is a 6 membered heterocyclic ring which is saturated or unsaturated and where any of the ring members can be optionally substituted with one or more groups selected from hydrogen and methyl and where,
A and B are unsubstituted dihydroxybenzyls wherein the benzyl methylene group is independently saturated or unsaturated and can be optionally substituted with a group selected from a hydrogen or ether group.
2. The compound of claim 1 wherein the heterocyclic ring comprises up to two heteroatoms which are nitrogen.

4. A pharmaceutical composition comprising the compound of claim 1 and a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient.
