Abstract

Isolated nucleic acid fragments and recombinant constructs comprising such fragments encoding novel delta-9 elongases along with a method of making long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) using these delta-9 elongases in plants.

Claims (1)

1. Soybean oil comprising cis-9-eicosenoic acid, cis-11,14-eicosadienoic acid, cis-11,14,17-eicosatrienoic acid, cis-9-octadecanoic acid, cis-9,12-octadecanoic acid, and cis-9,12,15-octadecatrienoic acid, wherein the percent delta-9 conversion of cis-9-octadecanoic acid, cis-9,12-octadecadienoic acid, and cis-9,12,15-octadecatrienoic acid to cis-9-eicosenoic acid, cis-11,14-eicosadienoic acid, and cis-11,14,17-eicosatrienoic acid is 29.18%-44.55%.
