Abstract

Advertisements displayed in a web page are enabled to be changed as a context of the web page changes without reloading the web page. A first set of one or more advertisements may be displayed on a web page. One or more of the displayed advertisements may be replaced with one or more alternative advertisements. Selection of the alternative advertisements is triggered based on the occurrence of one or more events that cause a change in a context of the web page. The display of the alternative advertisements is performed dynamically, without the web page needing to be reloaded. In this manner, the advertisements displayed on a web page may be changed based on the change in web page context, to provide advertisements to users that correspond to the changing context.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein said receiving a second set of one or more advertisements in response to transmitting the at least one event notification comprises:

receiving the second set of one or more advertisements when the aggregated modification reaches a predetermined threshold.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein said receiving a second set of one or more advertisements in response to transmitting the at least one event notification comprises:

receiving the second set of one or more advertisements due to the at least one event notification corresponding to a trigger event.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein said transmitting at least one event notification indicating a modification to a context of the dynamic web page comprises:

transmitting a request for data to a web service, wherein information related to the transmitted request for data to the web service is stored as a first event notification.

6. The method of claim 5 , wherein said transmitting at least one event notification indicating a modification to a context of the dynamic web page further comprises:

receiving response data from the web service, wherein the response data is stored as a second event notification.

7. The method of claim 5 , further comprising:

receiving response data from the web service; and

modifying the dynamic web page based on the response data received from the web service.

8. A system for displaying advertisements in a web page comprising:

a computer system; and

a dynamic web page that is loadable by a web browser of the computer system, the dynamic web page configured to:

transmit a first request for a first set of one or more advertisements to display on the dynamic web page;

transmit at least one event notification indicating a modification to a context of the dynamic web page;

receive a second set of one or more advertisements in response to transmitting the at least one event notification; and

display the second set of one or more advertisements on the dynamic web page in place of at least one advertisement of the first set.

9. The system of claim 8 , wherein the dynamic web page is further configured to:

transmit a plurality of event notifications indicating a plurality of modifications to the context of the dynamic web page, wherein the plurality of modifications to the context of the dynamic web page indicated by the plurality of event notifications are aggregated to generate an aggregated modification to the context of the dynamic web page.

10. The system of claim 9 , wherein the dynamic web page is further configured to:

receive the second set of one or more advertisements when the aggregated modification reaches a predetermined threshold.

11. The system of claim 8 , wherein the dynamic web page is further configured to:

receive the second set of one or more advertisements due to the at least one event notification corresponding to a trigger event.

12. The system of claim 8 , wherein the dynamic web page is further configured to:

transmit a request for data from a web service, wherein information related to the transmitted request for data to the web service is stored as a first event notification.

13. The system of claim 12 , wherein the dynamic web page is further configured to:

receive response data from the web service, wherein the response data is stored as a second event notification.

14. The system of claim 12 , wherein the dynamic web page is further configured to:

receive response data from the web service; and

modify the dynamic web page based on the response data received from the web service.

15. A method for dynamically updating a dynamic web page, comprising:

receiving at least one event notification indicating a modification to a context of a dynamic web page that displays one or more advertisements;

determining, by a processor, a received event notification that corresponds to a trigger event; and
