System and method of attaching a cup to a dairy animal according to a sequence
View Patent ↗In certain embodiments, a robotic attacher performs a method of attaching and detaching a cup from the teats of a dairy livestock in the sequence of right front teat, left front teat, left rear teat, and right rear teat. The method comprises the steps of determining a reference point and then, for each teat, positioning the cup relative to the reference point, determining a location of the teat, attaching the cup to the teat, and detaching the cup from the teat. In certain alternate embodiments, the sequence of attaching and detaching the cup comprises left front teat, right front teat, right rear teat, and left rear teat.
1. A method, comprising:
retrieving, by a robotic attacher, a cup;
determining a reference point;
for each teat of a dairy livestock, performing the steps of;
positioning the cup relative to the reference point;
determining a location of the teat;
attaching the cup to the teat; and
detaching the cup from the teat;
wherein the steps are performed in a sequence of right front teat, left front teat, left rear teat, and right rear teat;
the method further comprising:
maintaining the cup within a stall portion of a milking box from the time that the cup is attached to the right front teat through the time that the cup is attached to the right rear treat; and
retracting the cup into an equipment area of milking box after detaching the cup from the right teat.
2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the cup comprises a preparation cup.
3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the cup comprises a teat cup.
4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the retrieving comprises retrieving the cup from the left side of an equipment area located behind the dairy livestock.
5. A method, comprising:
retrieving, by a robotic attacher, a cup;
determining a reference point;
for each teat of a dairy livestock, performing the steps of:
positioning the cup relative to the reference point;
determining a location of the teat;
attaching the cup to the teat; and
detaching the cup from the teat;
maintaining the cup within a stall portion of a milking box from the time that the cup is attached to a first teat of the dairy livestock through the time that the cup is attached to a last teat of the dairy livestock; and
retracting the cup into an equipment area of the milking box after detaching the cup from the last teat of the dairy livestock.
6. The method of claim 5 , wherein the cup comprises a preparation cup.
7. The method of claim 5 , wherein the cup comprises a teat cup.
8. The method of claim 5 , wherein the steps are performed in a sequence of right front teat, left front teat, left rear teat, and right rear teat.
9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the retrieving comprises retrieving the cup from the left side of an equipment area located behind the dairy livestock.
10. The method of claim 5 , wherein the steps are performed in a sequence of left front teat, right front teat, right rear teat, and left rear teat.
11. The method of claim 10 , wherein the retrieving comprises retrieving the cup from the right side of an equipment area located behind the dairy livestock.
