SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DISPLAY OF SOFTWARE QUALITY
A method for code analysis comprising steps of inputting program code to an analyzer, assigning an objective quality measure to components of the analyzed code; and displaying graphically the objective quality measures.
1 . A method for code analysis, the method comprising:
inputting program code to an analyzer;
determining an objective quality measure for components of said analyzed code; and
computing metrics for display of the objective quality measures.
2 . A method as defined in claim 1 , including analyzing said code by said analyzer to determine errors that may occur when said code is executed.
3 . A method as defined in claim 1 , said display being a graphically displayed.
4 . A method as defined in claim 1 , said display being a table.
5 . A method as defined in claim 1 , said display being a two dimensional graph displaying a combination of several objective software metrics.
6 . A method as defined in claim 1 , including displaying successive sets of quality measures each set being determined at successive times.
7 . A method as defined in claim 1 , said code being static code.
8 . A method as defined in claim 1 , said code being dynamic code
9 . A method as defined in claim 1 , said code being object code.
10 . A method as defined in claim 1 , said code being source code.
11 . A system for code analysis comprising:
an analyzer for analyzing program code;
a processor configured for determining an objective quality measure for components of said analyzed code; and computing metrics for display of the objective quality measures.
12 . A system as defined in claim 11 , including a graphical display for graphically representing said display.
13 . A system as defined in claim 11 , said code being static code.
14 . A system as defined in claim 11 , said code being dynamic code
15 . A system as defined in claim 11 , said code being object code.
16 . A system as defined in claim 11 , said code being source code.
17 . A system as defined in claim 11 , said component being a procedure.
18 . A system as defined in claim 11 , said objective quality measure being represented by a pair of coordinates in a two dimensional coordinate system, representing two quality measures.
19 . A system as defined in claim 11 , said quality measure being represented by a data point in the display, the data point being an ordered set, with members of the set representing at least one metric of said quality measure for each component.
20 . A system as defined in claim 11 , said quality measure being represented by a set of metrics.
