Abstract

A first wireless device associated with a first profile is communicated with using a first transmitted power. A second wireless device associated with a second profile is communicated with using a second transmitted power. A third transmitted power is determined. The third transmitted power is associated with the first wireless device receiving data using a target modulation and coding scheme. A maximum transmitted power is determined to be exceeded if the third transmitted power is used to communicate with the first wireless device. The second wireless device is communicated with using a fourth transmitted power. The fourth transmitted power allows the third transmitted power to be used to communicate with the first wireless device without exceeding the maximum transmitted power.

Claims (34)

1. A method of operating a communication system, comprising:

sending wireless communication to a first plurality of wireless devices, the first plurality of wireless devices being associated with a first profile;

sending wireless communication to a second plurality of wireless devices, the second plurality of wireless devices being associated with a second profile;

determining a first total transmit power associated with the first plurality of wireless devices needed to send wireless communication to the first plurality of wireless devices using a target modulation and coding scheme; and,

based on the first total transmit power, sending wireless communication to the second plurality of wireless devices using reduced transmit power.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

sending wireless communication to at least one of the first plurality of wireless devices using increased transmit power.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

sending wireless communication to at least one of the first plurality of wireless devices using the target modulation and coding scheme.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first profile is associated with a first quality of service to be provided to the first plurality of wireless devices and the second profile is associated with a second quality of service to be provided to the second plurality of wireless devices.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first profile is associated with a first quality of service to be provided to a first service flow being communicated with at least one of the first plurality of wireless devices.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first total transmit power is based on a target multi-antenna mode.

7. The method of claim 6 , further comprising:

sending wireless communication to at least one of the first plurality of wireless devices using the target multi-antenna mode.

8. A method of operating a communication system, the method comprising:

determining a first total transmit power associated with a first plurality of wireless devices associated with a first profile, the first total transmit power being needed to send wireless communication to the first plurality of wireless devices using a target modulation and coding scheme; and

instructing a wireless station to send wireless communication to a second plurality of wireless devices associated with a second profile using reduced transmit power, based on the first total transmit power.

9. The method of claim 8 , further comprising:

instructing the wireless station to send wireless communication to at least one of the first plurality of wireless devices using increased transmit power.

10. The method of claim 8 , further comprising:

instructing the wireless station to send wireless communication to at least one of the first plurality of wireless devices using the target modulation and coding scheme.

11. The method of claim 8 , wherein the first profile is associated with a first quality of service to be provided to the first plurality of wireless devices and the second profile is associated with a second quality of service to be provided to the second plurality of wireless devices.

12. The method of claim 8 , wherein the first profile is associated with a first quality of service to be provided to a first service flow being communicated with at least one of the first plurality of wireless devices.

13. The method of claim 8 , wherein the first total transmit power is based on a target multi-antenna mode.

14. The method of claim 13 , further comprising:

instructing the wireless station to send wireless communication to at least one of the first plurality of wireless devices using the target multi-antenna mode.

15. A communication system, comprising:

a wireless station that communicates with a first plurality of wireless devices associated with a first profile, and with a second plurality of wireless devices associated with a second profile; and

a control system determining a first total transmit power associated with the first plurality of wireless devices needed to send wireless communication to the first plurality of wireless devices using a target modulation and coding scheme and instructing the wireless station to send wireless communication to the second plurality of wireless devices using reduced transmit power based on the first total transmit power.

16. The communication system of claim 15 , wherein the control system instructs the wireless station to send wireless communication to at least one of the first plurality of wireless devices using increased transmit power.

17. The communication system of claim 15 , wherein the control system instructs the wireless station to send wireless communication to at least one of the first plurality of wireless devices using the target modulation and coding scheme.

18. The communication system of claim 15 , wherein the first profile is associated with a first quality of service to be provided to the first plurality of wireless devices and the second profile is associated with a second quality of service to be provided to the second plurality of wireless devices.

19. The communication system of claim 15 , wherein the first profile is associated with a first quality of service to be provided to a first service flow being communicated with at least one of the first plurality of wireless devices.

20. The communication system of claim 15 , wherein the first total transmit power is based on a target multi-antenna mode, and the control system instructs the wireless station to send wireless communication to at least one of the first plurality of wireless devices using the target multi-antenna mode.
