Abstract

The present invention relates to Neisseria ORF2086 proteins, crossreactive immunogenic proteins which can be isolated from nesserial strains or prepared recombinantly, including immunogenic portions thereof, biological equivalents thereof, antibodies that immunospecifically bind to the foregoing and nucleic acid sequences encoding each of the foregoing, as well as the use of same in immunogenic compositions that are effective against infection by Neisseria meningitidis serogroup B.

Claims (10)

1. An isolated polypeptide consisting of the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 186.

2. The polypeptide of claim 1 , wherein the polypeptide is purified.

3. An immunogenic composition comprising the isolated polypeptide of claim 1 .

4. An immunogenic composition comprising the purified polypeptide of claim 2 .

5. The immunogenic composition of claim 3 and a pharmaceutically acceptable buffer, diluent, carrier, or adjuvant.

6. The immunogenic composition of claim 4 and a pharmaceutically acceptable buffer, diluent, carrier, or adjuvant.

7. The immunogenic composition of claim 5 , wherein the adjuvant is aluminum hydroxide or aluminum phosphate.

8. The immunogenic composition of claim 6 , wherein the adjuvant is aluminum hydroxide or aluminum phosphate.

9. A method of eliciting an immune response in a mammal against Neisseria meningitidis comprising administering to the mammal an immunologically effective amount of the composition of claim 5 .

10. A method of eliciting an immune response in a mammal against Neisseria meningitidis comprising administering to the mammal an immunologically effective amount of the composition of claim 6 .
