MOBILE DEVICE WHICH OFFLOADS REQUESTS MADE BY A MOBILE APPLICATION TO A REMOTE ENTITY FOR CONSERVATION OF MOBILE DEVICE AND NETWORK RESOURCES AND METHODS THEREFOR
Mobile device which offloads requests made by a mobile application to a remote entity for conservation of mobile device and network resources and methods therefor are disclosed. In one embodiment, a mobile device is able to detect, from an identifiable pattern in a set of requests, that the set of requests are generated from a given mobile application and can communicate the set of requests or the identifiable pattern to the remote entity to offload subsequent occurrences of the set of requests to the remote entity. The remote entity is able to simulate subsequent occurrences of the set of requests on behalf of the mobile application on the mobile device.
1 . A mobile device which offloads requests made by a mobile application to a remote entity, the mobile device, comprising:
a processor;
memory having stored thereon instructions, which when executed by the processor, causes the processor to:
detect, from an identifiable pattern in a set of requests, that the set of requests are generated from the mobile application;
communicate the set of requests or the identifiable pattern to the remote entity to offload subsequent occurrences of the set of requests to the remote entity.
2 . The mobile device of claim 1 ,
wherein, the remote entity simulates subsequent occurrences of the set of requests on behalf of the mobile application on the mobile device;
wherein, the remote entity is able to wirelessly communicate with the mobile device.
3 . The mobile device of claim 1 , wherein, the mobile application receives responses to the subsequent occurrences of the set of requests sent by the remote entity on behalf of the mobile application.
4 . The mobile device of claim 1 , wherein, the identifiable pattern further indicates that the set of requests occur at a predictable time frame.
5 . The mobile device of claim 4 , wherein, the predictable time frame is relative to a triggering event for an action with respect to the mobile application.
6 . The mobile device of claim 5 , wherein, the action includes user action or user activity in the mobile application.
7 . The mobile device of claim 1 , wherein, the set of requests are associated with an activity or event of the mobile application; wherein, an atomic process is created from the set of requests.
8 . The mobile device of claim 1 , wherein, the mobile application includes a mobile web browser.
9 . The mobile device of claim 1 , wherein, the mobile application includes a mobile game.
10 . The mobile device of claim 1 , wherein, the mobile application includes a social network application.
11 . The mobile device of claim 1 , wherein, the mobile application receives or sends status updates and/or news feeds.
12 . A method for offloading requests made at a mobile device to a remote entity, the method, comprising:
communicating, to a remote entity, that a set of requests which originate from the mobile device occur at a predictable time frame, to offload subsequent occurrences of the set of requests from the mobile device to be sent by the remote entity;
wherein, the remote entity is able to simulate the set of requests;
intercepting subsequent occurrences of the set of requests from being sent from the mobile device;
receiving, at the mobile device, responses to the subsequent occurrences of the set of requests made by the remote entity.
13 . The method of claim 12 ,
wherein, the predictable time frame of the set of requests is detected by a local proxy on the mobile device;
wherein, the remote entity is a proxy server able to communicate wirelessly with the local proxy.
14 . The method of claim 12 , wherein, the predictable time frame is predictable within a tolerable error threshold.
15 . The method of claim 12 , wherein, the predictable time frame is relative to a triggering event.
16 . The method of claim 15 , wherein, the triggering event includes an action with respect to the mobile application.
17 . The method of claim 16 , wherein, the action includes user action or user activity with respect to the mobile application.
18 . The method of claim 16 , wherein, the action includes background maintenance activity of the mobile application.
19 . The method of claim 12 ,
wherein, the remote entity simulates subsequent occurrences of the set of requests on behalf of the mobile application on the mobile device;
wherein, the remote entity is able to wirelessly communicate with the mobile device.
20 . The method of claim 19 , wherein, the mobile application receives responses to the subsequent occurrences of the set of requests sent by the remote entity on behalf of the mobile application.
21 . A machine readable storage medium having stored thereon instructions which when executed by a processor causes the processor to perform a method which offloads requests made by a mobile application to a remote entity, the method, comprising:
detecting, from an identifiable pattern in a set of requests, that the set of requests are generated from the mobile application;
communicating the set of requests or the identifiable pattern to the remote entity to offload subsequent occurrences of the set of requests to the remote entity;
receiving responses to the subsequent occurrences of the set of requests sent by the remote entity on behalf of the mobile application
22 . The method of claim 21 , wherein, the set of requests are associated with an activity or event of the mobile application.
23 . The method of claim 22 , further comprising, creating an atomic process is from the set of requests.
24 . A system for offloading requests made by a mobile application to a remote entity, the system, comprising:
means for, communicating, to a remote entity, that a set of requests which originate from the mobile application occur at a predictable time frame, to offload subsequent occurrences of the set of requests from the mobile application to be sent by the remote entity;
wherein, the remote entity is able to simulate the set of requests;
means for, intercepting subsequent occurrences of the set of requests from being sent from the mobile application;
means for, receiving, by the mobile application, responses to the subsequent occurrences of the set of requests made by the remote entity.
25 . The system of claim 24 , further comprising, means for, creating or updating an application profile for the mobile application to include indication of the predictable time frame within which the set of requests typically originate.
26 . The system of claim 24 , wherein, the predictable time frame is relative to a triggering event
27 . The system of claim 26 , wherein, the triggering event includes an action with respect to the mobile application.
28 . The system of claim 27 , wherein, the action includes user action or user activity with respect to the mobile application.
29 . The system of claim 27 , wherein, the action includes background maintenance activity of the mobile application.
30 . The system of claim 24 , wherein, the remote entity simulates subsequent occurrences of the set of requests on behalf of the mobile application.
