The machine is also operative to provide output signals which drive external displays which are separate from the machine. The machine is operable to receive visual and audio content from one or more broadcast content sources and to store the content in the machine. The content is then output through the external displays. The machine is also operative to receive and store a plurality of advertising messages. The advertising messages are output in a targeted manner to users of the machine.

wherein the customer station includes a cash dispenser,

wherein the customer station comprises a plurality of external monitors,

wherein the customer station comprises a customer station processor,

wherein the customer station processor is operable to receive signals from the reading device, the signals comprising identification data that identifies a second customer waiting to use the customer service station who has not initiated contact with the customer service station,

wherein the customer station processor is operable to obtain from a remote marketing server a first marketing presentation targeted to the identified second customer,

wherein the customer station processor is operable to display the presentation on a first of the plurality of external monitors to the second customer while the first customer is using the customer service station, and

a service provider (SP) station,

wherein the SP station includes a SP touch screen,

wherein the SP touch screen is spaced from the customer touch screen,

wherein the SP touch screen is usable by a service provider to assist a first customer in carrying out a financial transaction,

wherein the SP station includes a datastore with stored presentations which explain particular aspects of transactions or which include promotional messages,

at least one computer associated with the SP station and the customer station,

wherein the at least one computer is operable to place a service provider at the SP station in two-way audio communication with a customer at the customer station,

wherein the at least one computer is operable, while the customer station is being used for a first financial transaction, and while the customer touch screen displays a first transaction screen output that is involved in carrying out the first financial transaction, to cause the customer touch screen to visually point out to the first customer, specific information being displayed in the first transaction screen output,

wherein the at least one computer is operable to cause SP transaction assistance to be displayed through the customer touch screen, responsive to first SP input provided through moving contact with the SP touch screen in the first transaction screen output,

wherein the SP transaction assistance includes a displayed pointing out to the first customer of at least one specific location on the customer touch screen in the first transaction screen output responsive to first SP input to the SP touch screen during the display of the first transaction screen output by the customer touch screen,

wherein the customer station allows a first kind of cash dispense transaction to be carried out through operation of the cash dispenser,

wherein the first kind of cash dispense transaction is dependent on authorization from a remote transaction host,

wherein the first kind of cash dispense transaction can be independently carried out by an authorized user without requiring assistance from the service provider at the SP station,

wherein the customer station allows a second kind of cash dispense transaction to be carried out through operation of the cash dispenser,

wherein the second kind of cash dispense transaction is dependent on authorization from the remote transaction host,

wherein the second kind of cash dispense transaction includes service provider assistance to an authorized user,

wherein in the second kind of cash dispense transaction, operation of the cash dispenser is dependent on input provided by the service provider,

wherein the customer station allows a third kind of cash dispense transaction to be carried out through operation of the cash dispenser,

wherein the third kind of cash dispense transaction is independent of authorization from the remote transaction host,

wherein the third kind of cash dispense transaction is dependent on authorization from the service provider,

wherein the third kind of cash dispense transaction includes assistance from the service provider,

wherein the third kind of cash dispense transaction, operation of the cash dispenser is dependent on input provided by the service provider;

wherein the at least one computer is operable responsive to at least one SP input to the SP touch screen to cause operation of the cash dispenser

wherein a second SP input displays on the first customer touch screen a stored presentation from the datastore of a designated type applicable to the first transaction which explain particular aspects of the first transaction on the touch screen display.

2. The apparatus according to claim 1

wherein the customer station includes a check imager that is operable to capture at least one image of at least one portion of a received check,

wherein the customer touch screen is operable to display the at least one image,

wherein the SP touch screen is operable to display the at least one image,

wherein the at least one computer is operable responsive to at least one SP input to the SP touch screen, to cause a particular portion of the at least one image while displayed by the customer touch screen, to be pointed out to the customer.

3. The apparatus according to claim 1 wherein the customer station includes an automated banking machine,
