Abstract

Methods and systems for presentation of content through an interface to provide personalized video feeds to a user. A video feed is harvested from feed items gathered at various Internet sources. The feed items are filtered to remove those that do not link to video content. A criteria specified by the user is used to filter the feed items.

Claims (55)

1. A video processing system for providing personalized video content feeds to users from the Internet, the video processing system comprising:

a service feed that is:

acquired from an internet service, which is accessible from the Internet, and

updated a plurality of times, wherein:

the service feed comprises a plurality of feed items arranged in the first service feed serially, and

the service feed includes the plurality of feed items that each include a first separately resolvable link to another content item available from the Internet;

an aggregation system that is configured to:

receive the service feed,

remove from the service feed a plurality of non-video feed items that do not link to video content available from the Internet because the plurality of non-video feed items do not link to video content,

remove from the service feed a plurality of filtered feed items that either meet or do not meet a predetermined criteria,

a selective video feed comprising a plurality of remaining feed items that exclude the plurality of non-video feed items and the plurality of filtered feed items.

2. The video processing system for providing personalized video content feeds to users from the Internet as recited in claim 1 , wherein the predetermined criteria is a username, keyword, rating, artist, genre, and/or category associated with a feed item.

3. The video processing system for providing personalized video content feeds to users from the Internet as recited in claim 1 , wherein the service feed is gathered in association with unique credentials for a first user of the Internet service, and the feed items are used to formulate a plurality of selective video feeds for a plurality of other users of the Internet service.

4. The video processing system for providing personalized video content feeds to users from the Internet as recited in claim 1 , wherein the selective video feed is played serially to the user by the aggregation system.

5. The video processing system for providing personalized video content feeds to users from the Internet as recited in claim 1 , wherein:

the selective video feed is played serially to the user by playing video excerpts serially to the user, and

the video excerpts are only a portion of the corresponding feed item video.

6. The video processing system for providing personalized video content feeds to users from the Internet as recited in claim 1 , wherein the selective video feed is presented through a web site coupled with the aggregation system.

7. The video processing system for providing personalized video content feeds to users from the Internet as recited in claim 1 , wherein:

the Internet service requires unique credentials of a user before allowing access to the service feed.

8. The video processing system for providing personalized video content feeds to users from the Internet as recited in claim 1 , wherein:

a second Internet service is provided credentials identifying a user of the aggregation system as a user of the second Internet service, and

the aggregation system receives second feed items returned by the second Internet service for the user.

9. The video processing system for providing personalized video content feeds to users from the Internet as recited in claim 8 , wherein:

a plurality of the second feed items received from the second Internet service are music or video feed items.

10. The video processing system for providing personalized video content feeds to users from the Internet as recited in claim 1 , wherein the selective video feed is filtered by the aggregation system to exclude one or more possible rendering agents.

11. A method for providing personalized video content feeds to users from the Internet, the method comprising:

acquiring a service feed, including a plurality of feed items arranged serially that link to content objects, which are available from the Internet with an Internet service;

updating the service feed a plurality of times;

filtering the service feed to remove from the service feed a plurality of non-video feed items that do not link to video content available from the Internet because the plurality of non-video feed items do not link to video content;

filtering the service feed to remove from the service feed a plurality of filtered feed items that either meet or do not meet a predetermined criteria; and

sending a selective feed to a user that comprises a plurality of remaining feed items that exclude the plurality of non-video feed items and the plurality of filtered feed items.

12. The method for providing personalized video content feeds to users from the Internet as recited in claim 11 , the method further comprising processing feed items in the video selective feed into a consistent user interface that serially plays the feed items.

13. The method for providing personalized video content feeds to users from the Internet as recited in claim 11 , wherein the predetermined criteria is a username, keyword, rating, artist, genre, and/or category associated with a feed item.

14. The method for providing personalized video content feeds to users from the Internet as recited in claim 11 , further comprising:

sending second Internet service credentials identifying a user of the aggregation system as authenticated for the second Internet service, and

receiving a plurality second feed items from the second Internet service for the user.

15. The method for providing personalized video content feeds to users from the Internet as recited in claim 14 , further comprising:

receiving from the second Internet service a plurality of music or video content items returned by the second Internet service as the plurality of second feed items;

communicating the plurality of second feed items to a player associate with the user.

16. The method for providing personalized video content feeds to users from the Internet as recited in claim 11 , further comprising:

gathering of feed items for use by a second user from the Internet service associated with unique credentials of the first user.

17. A method for providing personalized video feeds to a user gathered from the Internet, the method comprising:

receiving selection of a service feed, including a plurality of feed items arranged serially that link to content objects, which are available from the Internet from an Internet service;

receiving from the user a criteria specifying filtering of the Internet service;

updating the service feed a plurality of times to provide the plurality of feed items;

removing from the service feed those feed items of the service feed that do not link to video objects available over the Internet because the plurality of non-video feed items do not link to video content;

removing from the service feed those feed items of the service feed that are specified by the criteria; and

sending a subset of the plurality of feed items toward the user, where the subset is defined by the two preceding removing limitations.

18. The method for providing personalized video feeds to the user gathered from the Internet as recited in claim 17 , wherein the criteria includes one or more of an account or username, keyword, rating, artist, genre, and/or category associated with a feed item.

19. The method for providing personalized video feeds to the user gathered from the Internet as recited in claim 17 , further comprising:

sending a second Internet service credentials identifying a user of the aggregation system as a user of the second Internet service;

receiving from the second Internet service a second plurality of feed items returned by the second Internet service for the user; and

passing the second plurality of feed items to a player associated with the user.

20. The method for providing personalized video feeds to the user gathered from the Internet as recited in claim 19 , wherein the second Internet service provides music or video feed items as the second plurality of feed items.
