Abstract

This invention provides antibodies that interact with or bind to human interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) and methods for treating IFN-γ mediated diseases by administering a pharmaceutically effective amount of antibodies to IFN-γ. Methods of detecting the amount of IFN-γ in a sample using antibodies to IFN-γ are also provided.

Claims (20)

1. A method for treating a patient having systemic lupus erythematosus comprising administering to the patient a human anti-human IFNγ antibody, wherein the antibody comprises a heavy chain CDR1 comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:34, a heavy chain CDR2 comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:35, a heavy chain CDR3 comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:36, a light chain CDR1 comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:38, a light chain CDR2 comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:41, and a light chain CDR3 comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:43.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the antibody comprises the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:6.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the patient has lupus nephritis.

4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the antibody comprises the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:6.

5. The method of claim 2 , wherein the antibody comprises the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:8.

6. The method of claim 4 , wherein the antibody comprises the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:8.

8. The method of claim 3 , wherein the antibody comprises SEQ ID NO:8.

9. A method for treating a patient having an inflammatory bowel disease comprising administering to the patient a human anti-human IFNγ antibody, wherein the antibody comprises a heavy chain CDR1 comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:34, a heavy chain CDR2 comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:35, a heavy chain CDR3 comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:36, a light chain CDR1 comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:38, a light chain CDR2 comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:41, and a light chain CDR3 comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:43.

10. The method of claim 9 , wherein the antibody comprises the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:6.

11. The method of claim 9 , wherein the patient has Crohn's disease.

12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the antibody comprises the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:6.

13. The method of claim 10 , wherein the antibody comprises the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:8.

14. The method of claim 11 , wherein the antibody comprises the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:8.

15. The method of claim 9 , wherein the antibody comprises the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:8.

16. The method of claim 12 , wherein the antibody comprises SEQ ID NO:8.

17. A method for treating a patient having psoriasis comprising administering to the patient a human anti-human IFNγ antibody, wherein the antibody comprises a heavy chain CDR1 comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:34, a heavy chain CDR2 comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:35, a heavy chain CDR3 comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:36, a light chain CDR1 comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:38, a light chain CDR2 comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:41, and a light chain CDR3 comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:43.

18. The method of claim 17 , wherein the antibody comprises the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:6.

19. The method of claim 17 , wherein the antibody comprises the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:8.
