Abstract

An image processing apparatus includes: a histogram computation block configured to compute a histogram of a plurality of motion vectors of each image detected for each of continuously taken images; an acceleration vector computation block configured to compute an acceleration vector corresponding to a change in the histogram; and a camera-shake correction amount computation block configured, on the basis of the acceleration vector and first motion vector for correction used in processing on an image preceding an image subject to processing, by assuming a second motion vector for correction for use in processing on the image subject to processing, to compute a camera-shake correction amount corresponding to the second motion vector for correction.

Claims (31)

1. An image processing apparatus comprising:

one or more processors operable to:

compute a histogram of a plurality of motion vectors of each image of a plurality of images;

compute an acceleration vector corresponding to a change in said histogram; and

compute a camera-shake correction amount, comprising:

computing, based on said acceleration vector and a first motion vector used in processing a first image, a second motion vector for use in processing a second image subject to processing, wherein said first image precedes said second image,

wherein said camera-shake correction amount corresponds to said second motion vector of said second image.

2. The image processing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are operable to:

determine first processing based on a shape of said histogram; and

execute camera-shake correction processing on said second image with said computed camera-shake correction amount based on said first processing.

3. The image processing apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein, when said histogram comprises a plurality of peaks, said first processing is determined such that said second motion vector is computed based on said acceleration vector and said first motion vector.

4. The image processing apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein, when said histogram comprises a single peak, said first processing is determined such that a motion vector corresponding to said single peak of said histogram is used as said second motion vector.

5. The image processing apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein, when said histogram changes from a shape having a plurality of peaks to another shape having a single peak, said first processing is determined such that said second motion vector is computed based on said acceleration vector, said first motion vector, a motion vector corresponding to said single peak of said histogram, and a predetermined return coefficient.

6. The image processing apparatus according to claim 5 , wherein, when said second motion vector is computed based on said acceleration vector, said first motion vector, said motion vector corresponding to said single peak of said histogram, and said predetermined return coefficient, said first processing is changed such that said motion vector corresponding to said single peak of said histogram is used as said second motion vector for correction when a difference between said computed second motion vector and said motion vector corresponding to said single peak of said histogram from said second image subject to processing is lower than a predetermined threshold value.

7. An image processing method comprising:

computing a histogram of a plurality of motion vectors of each image of a plurality of images;

computing an acceleration vector corresponding to a change in said histogram; and

computing a camera-shake correction amount comprising:

computing, based on said acceleration vector and a first motion vector used in processing a first image, a second motion vector for use in processing a second image subject to processing, wherein said camera-shake correction amount corresponds to said second motion vector of said second image.

8. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having stored thereon, a computer program having at least one code section for processing, the at least one code section being executable by a computer for causing the computer to perform steps comprising:

computing a histogram of a plurality of motion vectors of each image of a plurality of images;

computing an acceleration vector corresponding to a change in said histogram; and

computing a camera-shake correction amount comprising:

computing, based on said acceleration vector and a first motion vector used in processing a first image, a second motion vector for use in processing a second image subject to processing, wherein said camera-shake correction amount corresponds to said second motion vector of said second image.

9. The image processing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein said one or more processors are operable to detect said plurality of motion vectors in said each image.

10. The image processing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein said one or more processors are operable to compute said acceleration vector based on a matching between a histogram of said first image of said plurality of images and a histogram of said second image succeeding said first image.

11. The image processing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein said camera-shake correction amount is computed by adding said acceleration vector and said first motion vector.

12. The image processing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein said one or more processors are operable to determine an operation mode corresponding to an image of said plurality of images based on said histogram.

13. The image processing apparatus according to claim 12 , wherein said operation mode comprises a normal mode, a moving mode and a return mode.

14. The image processing apparatus according to claim 13 , wherein, when said histogram comprises a single peak, said normal mode is determined.

15. The image processing apparatus according to claim 13 , wherein, when said histogram comprises a plurality of peaks, said moving mode is determined.
