Abstract

A system and process for ensuring the smooth flow of electronic ink is described. Ink-stroke information associated with one or more data packets is received, and it is determined that the ink-stroke information comprises a gesture indication. The gesture indication is communicated to an ink collection object which causes the ink collection object to delete the ink stroke information.

Claims (31)

1. A computerized method carried out by a component that orders how data is handled, the component having at least one processor, for recognizing a gesture using a gesture recognition object attached to the component that orders how data is handled, the method comprising:

receiving a notification of a stylus-up event from the component that orders how the data is handled, the component having a synchronous interface and an asynchronous interface, the stylus-up event being received over the gesture recognition object's interface which is attached to the synchronous interface on the component;

receiving ink-stroke information associated with one or more data packets stored in association with the component;

determining, using the at least one processor, that the ink-stroke information comprises a gesture indication; and

communicating the gesture indication through the component to an ink collection object, the ink collection object attached to the asynchronous interface of the component, the gesture indication causing the ink collection object to delete the ink stroke information.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

determining at least one action associated with the gesture indication.

3. The method of claim 2 , further comprising:

subsequent to the ink collection object deleting the ink stroke information, causing the ink collection object to execute the at least one action associated with the gesture indication.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the ink stroke information comprises a single-stroke gesture indication.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the ink stroke information comprises a multi-stroke gesture indication.

6. One or more computer-storage devices having computer-executable instructions embodied thereon that, when executed, facilitate a method for causing the computing device to recognize a gesture using a gesture recognition object attached to a component that orders how data is handled, the method comprising:

receiving a notification of a stylus-up event from the component that orders how the data is handled, the component having a synchronous interface and an asynchronous interface, the stylus-up event being received over the gesture recognition object's interface which is attached to the synchronous interface on the component;

receiving ink-stroke information associated with one or more data packets stored in association with the component;

determining that the ink-stroke information comprises a gesture indication; and

communicating the gesture indication through the component to an ink collection object, the ink collection object attached to the asynchronous interface of the component, the gesture indication causing the ink collection object to delete the ink stroke information.

7. The devices of claim 6 , further comprising:

determining at least one action associated with the gesture indication.

8. The devices of claim 7 , further comprising:

subsequent to the ink collection object deleting the ink stroke information, causing the ink collection object to execute the at least one action associated with the gesture indication.

9. The devices of claim 6 , wherein the ink stroke information comprises a single-stroke gesture indication.

10. The devices of claim 6 , wherein the ink stroke information comprises a multi-stroke gesture indication.

11. A system for communicating between a component and plug-in objects, the system having a processor and a memory, the system comprising:

a receiving component coupled with the processor and the memory for receiving a notification of a stylus-up event, the receiving component having a synchronous interface and an asynchronous interface, the stylus-up event received from a gesture recognition object attached to the asynchronous interface;

an ink-stroke component that receives ink stroke information associated with one or more data packets;

a determining component that determines that the ink-stroke information comprises a gesture indication; and

a communication component that communicates the gesture indication to an ink collection object, the ink collection object attached to the asynchronous interface, the gesture indication causing the ink collection object to delete the ink stroke information.

12. The system of claim 11 , wherein the determining component further determines at least one action associated with the gesture indication.

13. The system of claim 12 , wherein subsequent to the ink collection object deleting the ink stroke information, the ink collection object executing the at least one action associated with the gesture indication.

14. The media of claim 11 , wherein the ink stroke information comprises a single-stroke gesture indication.

15. The media of claim 11 , wherein the ink stroke information comprises a multi-stroke gesture indication.
