Abstract

A method for activating a carrier by a User Equipment (UE) in a mobile communication system supporting carrier aggregation is provided. The UE receives a Down-Link (DL) assignment from an Evolved Node B (ENB), and determines whether to activate a carrier based on the DL assignment. By doing so, the UE may perform carrier activation rapidly and efficiently.

Claims (41)

1. A method for measuring a deactivated cell by a terminal in a mobile communication system, the method comprising:

receiving measurement information for a deactivated cell, from a base station;

in performing measurement on an activated cell in an activated state, determining a measurement interval and a measurement period taking a Discontinuous Reception (DRX) operation into account and measuring the activated cell at the determined measurement interval for the determined measurement period; and

in performing measurement on the deactivated cell, determining a measurement interval and a measurement period using the received measurement information related to at least one of a measurement interval and a measurement period indicated by the base station, and measuring the deactivated cell at the determined measurement interval for the determined measurement period,

wherein the measurement period is acquired by the equation:

measurement period=5*measurement interval.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the determining of the measurement interval and the measurement period for the deactivated cell comprises acquiring the measurement period using the received measurement information related to the measurement interval.

3. A terminal in a mobile communication system, the terminal comprising:

a receiver for receiving measurement information for a deactivated cell from a base station; and

a controller for,

in performing measurement on an activated cell in an activated state, determining a measurement interval and a measurement period taking a Discontinuous Reception (DRX) operation into account and measuring the activated cell at the determined measurement interval for the determined measurement period; and

in performing measurement on the deactivated cell, determining a measurement interval and a measurement period using the received measurement information related to at least one of a measurement interval and a measurement period indicated by the base station, and measuring the deactivated cell at the determined measurement interval for the determined measurement period,

wherein the measurement period is acquired by the equation:

measurement period=5*measurement interval.

4. The terminal of claim 3 , wherein in the determining of the measurement interval and the measurement period for the deactivated cell, the controller acquires the measurement period using the received measurement information related to the measurement interval.

5. A method for measuring a deactivated cell by terminal in a mobile communication system, the method comprising:

receiving measurement information for the deactivated cell from a base station;

acquiring a measurement period using the received measurement information including a measurement interval; and

measuring the deactivated cell using the measurement interval,

wherein the measurement period is acquired by the equation:

measurement period=5*measurement interval.

6. The method of claim 5 , wherein the measuring step comprises measuring the deactivated cell at the measurement interval for the measurement period.

7. A terminal for measuring a deactivated cell in a mobile communication system, the terminal comprising:

a receiver for receiving measurement information for the deactivated cell from a base station; and

a controller for acquiring a measurement period using the received measurement information including a measurement interval, and measuring the deactivated cell using the measurement interval,

wherein the measurement period is acquired by the equation:

measurement period=5*measurement interval.

8. The terminal of claim 7 , wherein the controller measures the cell in the deactivated state at the measurement interval for the measurement period.

9. A method for controlling a measurement of a deactivated cell by a base station in a mobile communication system, the method comprising:

transmitting measurement information for the deactivated cell, the measurement information including a measurement interval,

wherein the measurement period is acquired using the measurement interval by a terminal which has received the measurement information,

wherein the deactivated cell is measured using the measurement interval by the terminal, and

wherein the measurement period is acquired by the equation:

measurement period=5*measurement interval.

10. A base station in a mobile communication system, the base station comprising:

a transceiver for transmitting/receiving data over a wireless network; and

a controller for controlling an operation of transmitting measurement information for a deactivated cell, the measurement information including a measurement interval,

wherein the measurement period is acquired using the measurement interval by a terminal,

wherein the deactivated cell is measured using the measurement interval and by the terminal, and

wherein the measurement period is acquired by the equation:

measurement period=5*measurement interval.
