Abstract

A method of automatically tracking the portions of a 3D medical imaging volume, such as the voxels, that have already been displayed according to use-defined display parameters, notating those portions, and providing the user with information indicating what portions of the imaging volume have been displayed at full resolution.

Claims (43)

1. A computing system comprising:

one or more computer processors;

a computer readable storage medium storing instructions configured for execution by the one or more computer processors in order to cause the computing system to:

determine portions of a three dimensional imaging volume that are relevant for display to a user of the computing system;

selectively display portions of the imaging volume; and

determine if at least the determined relevant portions of the imaging volume have been displayed according to user-defined display parameters.

2. The computing system of claim 1 , wherein the determined relevant portions exclude areas of the imaging volume depicting air.

3. The computing system of claim 1 , wherein the instructions are further configured to cause the computing system to:

receive input from the user adding to and/or removing portions of the imaging volume that were determined as relevant by the computing system.

4. The computing system of claim 1 , further comprising:

in response to determining that not all of the determined relevant portions of the imaging volume have been displayed according to the user-defined display parameters, provide a visual and/or audible warning to the user via the computing system.

5. The computing system of claim 1 , wherein the user-defined display parameters indicate that results of one or more computer-aided detection processes are to be displayed.

6. The computing system of claim 1 , wherein said determining portions of the imaging volume that are relevant comprises applying one or more computer-aided detection processes to the imaging volume.

7. A computing system comprising:

one or more computer processors;

a computer readable storage medium storing instructions configured for execution by the one or more computer processors in order to cause the computing system to:

selectively display portions of a three dimensional imaging volume comprising a plurality of voxels; and

determine, based on user-defined display parameters, whether the imaging volume is eligible to be marked as read by a user of the computing system, the user-defined display parameters including at least a parameter indicating that results of one or more computer-aided detection processes are to be displayed before the imaging volume is eligible to be marked as read.

8. The computing system of claim 7 , wherein the instructions are further configured to cause the computing system to:

provide an indication of portions of the imaging volume that have not been displayed according to the user-defined display parameters.

9. A computer-implemented method comprising:

determining, by a computing system having one or more computer processors, portions of a three dimensional imaging volume that are relevant for display to a user of the computing system;

selectively displaying, by the computing system, portions of the imaging volume; and

determining, by the computing system, if at least the determined relevant portions of the imaging volume have been displayed according to user-defined display parameters.

10. The computer-implemented method of claim 9 , wherein the determined relevant portions exclude areas of the imaging volume depicting air.

11. The computer-implemented method of claim 9 , further comprising:

receiving, by the computing system, input from the user adding to and/or removing portions of the imaging volume that were determined as relevant by the computing system.

12. The computer-implemented method of claim 9 , further comprising:

in response to determining that not all of the determined relevant portions of the imaging volume have been displayed according to the user-defined display parameters, providing a visual and/or audible warning to the user via the computing system.

13. The computer-implemented method of claim 9 , wherein the user-defined display parameters indicate that results of one or more computer-aided detection processes are to be displayed.

14. The computer-implemented method of claim 9 , wherein said determining portions of the imaging volume that are relevant comprises applying one or more computer-aided detection processes to the imaging volume.

15. A tangible non-transitory computer readable medium storing software instructions configured for execution by a computing system having one or more hardware processors in order to cause the computing system to perform operations comprising:

determining portions of a three dimensional imaging volume that are relevant for display to a user of the computing system;

selectively displaying portions of the imaging volume; and

determining if at least the determined relevant portions of the imaging volume have been displayed according to user-defined display parameters.

16. A computer-implemented method comprising:

selectively displaying, by a computing system having one or more computer processors, portions of a three dimensional imaging volume comprising a plurality of voxels; and

determining, by the computing system, based on user-defined display parameters, whether the imaging volume is eligible to be marked as read by a user of the computing system, the user-defined display parameters including at least a parameter indicating that results of one or more computer-aided detection processes are to be displayed before the imaging volume is eligible to be marked as read.

17. The computer-implemented method of claim 16 , further comprising:

providing, by the computing system, an indication of portions of the imaging volume that have not been displayed according to the user-defined display parameters.

18. A tangible non-transitory computer readable medium storing software instructions configured for execution by a computing system having one or more hardware processors in order to cause the computing system to perform operations comprising:

selectively displaying portions of a three dimensional imaging volume comprising a plurality of voxels; and

determining, based on user-defined display parameters, whether the imaging volume is eligible to be marked as read by a user of the computing system, the user-defined display parameters including at least a parameter indicating that results of one or more computer-aided detection processes are to be displayed before the imaging volume is eligible to be marked as read.
