Abstract

A computer implemented method, a computer system or a nontransitory computer readable storage medium having an HTTP module is provided. The method, system or medium may be configured for use with a device having one or more processors and a memory storing one or more programs for execution by the one or more processors, the one or more programs may include instructions for processing information from multiple web sites served up from a web application, binding multiple secure socket layer (SSL) certificates to a single site supported by the web application, hosting the SSL certificates using an SSL accelerator, and intercepting incoming requests relayed from the SSL accelerator to the web application with the HTTP module. The method, system or medium may be configured for use with an identity management system that uses human knowledge and experience and computer software programs and databases to anticipate forms of identity-related fraud.

Claims (73)

1. A computer implemented method for managing communications for a web site, comprising:

on a device having one or more processors and a memory storing one or more programs for execution by the one or more processors, the one or more programs including instructions for:

processing information from multiple web sites served up from a web application,

binding multiple secure socket layer (SSL) certificates to a single site supported by the web application,

hosting the SSL certificates using an SSL accelerator, and

intercepting incoming requests relayed from the SSL accelerator to the web application with an HTTP module.

2. The computer implemented method of claim 1 , the one or more programs further including instructions for:

hosting client information using an HTTP client host,

relaying connections using an HTTP intermediate,

hosting server information using an HTTP server host,

communicating between the HTTP client host and the HTTP intermediate via an unsecure protocol and via a secure protocol, and

communicating between the HTTP intermediate and the HTTP server host via an unsecure protocol and via an alternate unsecure protocol.

3. The computer implemented method of claim 2 , wherein the HTTP client host comprises a web browser.

4. The computer implemented method of claim 2 , wherein the HTTP intermediate comprises an HTTP relay process and an SSL certificate bound to a port adapted for communication via the secure protocol.

5. The computer implemented method of claim 2 , wherein the HTTP server host comprises the HTTP module.

6. The computer implemented method of claim 5 , wherein the HTTP server host comprises a web application server.

7. The computer implemented method of claim 6 , wherein the web application server comprises the web application.

8. The computer implemented method of claim 6 , wherein the HTTP module is adapted to communicate with the unsecure protocol through a first port, and wherein the HTTP module is adapted to communicate with the secure protocol through a second port.

9. The computer implemented method of claim 8 , wherein information from the HTTP intermediate is transmitted to the web application server via the HTTP module.

10. The computer implemented method of claim 8 , wherein information from the web application server is transmitted to the HTTP intermediate via the HTTP module.

11. The computer implemented method of claim 2 , wherein the HTTP module is configured to function as a filter and detects a characteristic of an incoming connection being relayed by the HTTP intermediate as an indicator of a connection that originated as secure.

12. The computer implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the HTTP module is configured to function as a filter.

13. The computer implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the web application is an internet information service.

14. The computer implemented method of claim 13 , wherein the internet information service is Microsoft's Internet Information Service 6.

15. A computer system for managing communications for a web site, the computer system comprising:

one or more processors; and

memory to store:

one or more programs, the one or more programs comprising instructions for:

processing information from multiple web sites served up from a web application,

binding multiple secure socket layer (SSL) certificates to a single site supported by the web application,

hosting the SSL certificates using an SSL accelerator, and

intercepting incoming requests relayed from the SSL accelerator to the web application with an HTTP module.

16. The computer system of claim 15 , the one or more programs further including instructions for:

hosting client information using an HTTP client host,

relaying connections using an HTTP intermediate,

hosting server information using an HTTP server host,

communicating between the HTTP client host and the HTTP intermediate via an unsecure protocol and via a secure protocol, and

communicating between the HTTP intermediate and the HTTP server host via an unsecure protocol and via an alternate unsecure protocol.

17. The computer system of claim 16 , wherein the HTTP client host comprises a web browser.

18. The computer system of claim 16 , wherein the HTTP intermediate comprises an HTTP relay process and an SSL certificate bound to a port adapted for communication via the secure protocol.

19. The computer system of claim 16 , wherein the HTTP server host comprises the HTTP module.

20. The computer system of claim 19 , wherein the HTTP server host comprises a web application server.

21. The computer system of claim 20 , wherein the web application server comprises the web application.

22. The computer system of claim 20 , wherein the HTTP module is adapted to communicate with the unsecure protocol through a first port, and wherein the HTTP module is adapted to communicate with the secure protocol through a second port.

23. The computer system of claim 22 , wherein information from the HTTP intermediate is transmitted to the web application server via the HTTP module.

24. The computer system of claim 22 , wherein information from the web application server is transmitted to the HTTP intermediate via the HTTP module.

25. The computer system of claim 16 , wherein the HTTP module is configured to function as a filter and detects a characteristic of an incoming connection being relayed by the HTTP intermediate as an indicator of a connection that originated as secure.

26. The computer system of claim 15 , wherein the HTTP module is configured to function as a filter.

27. The computer system of claim 15 , wherein the web application is an internet information service.

28. The computer system of claim 27 , wherein the internet information service is Microsoft's Internet Information Service 6.

29. A nontransitory computer readable storage medium storing one or more programs configured to be executed by one or more processing units at a computer comprising instructions for:

processing information from multiple web sites served up from a web application,

binding multiple secure socket layer (SSL) certificates to a single site supported by the web application,

hosting the SSL certificates using an SSL accelerator, and

intercepting incoming requests relayed from the SSL accelerator to the web application with an HTTP module.

30. The nontransitory computer readable storage medium of claim 29 , the one or more programs further including instructions for:

hosting client information using an HTTP client host,

relaying connections using an HTTP intermediate,

hosting server information using an HTTP server host,

communicating between the HTTP client host and the HTTP intermediate via an unsecure protocol and via a secure protocol, and

communicating between the HTTP intermediate and the HTTP server host via an unsecure protocol and via an alternate unsecure protocol.

31. The nontransitory computer readable storage medium of claim 30 , wherein the HTTP client host comprises a web browser.

32. The nontransitory computer readable storage medium of claim 30 , wherein the HTTP intermediate comprises an HTTP relay process and an SSL certificate bound to a port adapted for communication via the secure protocol.

33. The nontransitory computer readable storage medium of claim 30 , wherein the HTTP server host comprises the HTTP module.

34. The nontransitory computer readable storage medium of claim 33 , wherein the HTTP server host comprises a web application server.

35. The nontransitory computer readable storage medium of claim 34 , wherein the web application server comprises the web application.

36. The nontransitory computer readable storage medium of claim 34 , wherein the HTTP module is adapted to communicate with the unsecure protocol through a first port, and wherein the HTTP module is adapted to communicate with the secure protocol through a second port.

37. The nontransitory computer readable storage medium of claim 36 , wherein information from the HTTP intermediate is transmitted to the web application server via the HTTP module.

38. The nontransitory computer readable storage medium of claim 36 , wherein information from the web application server is transmitted to the HTTP intermediate via the HTTP module.

39. The nontransitory computer readable storage medium of claim 30 , wherein the HTTP module is configured to function as a filter and detects a characteristic of an incoming connection being relayed by the HTTP intermediate as an indicator of a connection that originated as secure.

40. The nontransitory computer readable storage medium of claim 29 , wherein the HTTP module is configured to function as a filter.

41. The nontransitory computer readable storage medium of claim 29 , wherein the web application is an internet information service.

42. The nontransitory computer readable storage medium of claim 41 , wherein the internet information service is Microsoft's Internet Information Service 6.
