Multi-band MIMO antenna
View Patent ↗A multi-band antenna system for MIMO applications is adapted to provide high isolation between antennas across a wide range of frequencies. Multiple Isolated Magnetic Dipole (IMD) antennas are co-located and connected with a feed network that can include switches that adjust phase length for transmission lines connecting the antennas. Filtering is integrated into the feed network to improve rejection of unwanted frequencies. Filtering can also be implemented on the antenna structure. Either one or multi-port antennas can be used.
1. A multiband MIMO antenna system, comprising:
a first antenna element comprising a first feed port, a second feed port, and a third feed port;
a second antenna element comprising a fourth feed port;
a first transmission line, a second transmission line, and a third transmission line each extending between one of said feed ports of said first antenna element and said second antenna element;
a first filter disposed between the first and second feed ports of the first antenna element;
a second filter disposed between the second and third feed ports of the first antenna element; and
a coupler for connecting said first through third transmission lines to a transceiver.
2. The multiband MIMO antenna system of claim 1 , wherein at least one of said transmission lines is capacitively coupled to one or more of said feed ports.
3. The multiband MIMO antenna system of claim 1 , said second antenna element further comprising a fifth feed port and a sixth feed port;
said second transmission line extending between said second and fifth feed ports; and
said third transmission line extending between said third and sixth feed ports.
4. The multiband MIMO antenna system of claim 3 , further comprising a third filter disposed between said fourth and fifth feed ports of the second antenna element.
5. The multiband MIMO antenna system of claim 3 , further comprising a fourth filter disposed between said fifth and sixth feed ports of the second antenna element.
