Abstract

A method of performing money transfer send transactions begins with receiving registration information from a customer, including customer identification and qualification information and payment source identification and performing verification of at least a portion of the identification and qualification information and the payment source identification and upon sufficient verification building a distribution profile. The method proceeds by receiving from the customer and storing in the distribution profile send transaction specifications for staging each of one or more proposed send transactions, and receiving a send initiation instruction with associated customer authentication data and responsive thereto identifying a distribution profile and at least one send transaction specification to be executed. Responsive to the send initiation instruction, the method verifies the authentication data and the current status of the payment source identified in the distribution profile and upon sufficient verification, initiates a send transaction according to the at least one send transaction specification.

Claims (33)

1. A method of performing money transfer send transactions comprising:

receiving at a non-bank financial institution (NBFI) data center registration information from a customer, the registration information including payment source identification, and based on the registration information, generating a distribution profile;

receiving at the NBFI data center from the customer send transaction specifications for staging each of a plurality of proposed send transactions and storing the send transaction specifications in the distribution profile;

controlling an interactive voice response system as an access portal communicating with the NBFI data center for initiating money transfer send transactions;

receiving from the customer, via the interactive voice response system, a send initiation instruction with associated customer authentication data and responsive thereto identifying a distribution profile;

verifying the authentication data and presenting to the customer a send transaction option corresponding to each of two or more of the plurality of proposed send transactions in the identified distribution profile;

receiving from the customer, via customer response to the interactive voice response system, a selection from the send transaction options; and

based on the customer selection and the payment source identification from the distribution profile, initiating a send transaction, and a delivery of funds from a NBFI send system of the NBFI data center communicating with a non-bank agent network, according to the send transaction specifications for the proposed send transaction corresponding to the selected send transaction option.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the interactive voice response system also is controlled to receive the registration information from the customer.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the customer uses a mobile phone for communicating with the interactive voice response system.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the registration information comprises customer identification and qualification information and payment source identification.

5. The method of claim 4 , further comprising verifying at least a portion of the identification and qualification information and the payment source identification.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising providing the customer send transaction confirmation information including a transaction identifier to identify the send transaction.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the step of receiving registration information comprises receiving payment source identification selected from the group consisting of: prepaid card identification, debit card identification, credit card identification, and bank account identification.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the step of receiving a send initiation with associated customer authentication information comprises receiving authentication information for multifactor authentication.

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the customer authentication information is two or more of: a password, a PIN, a biometric identifier, and a sending device identifier.

10. The method of claim 4 , wherein the payment source identification identifies a prepaid card and wherein the method further comprises receiving a transfer of funds to the prepaid card from a funding source selected from the group consisting of: cash, tax refunds, trust account funds, government program payments and government-facilitated payments.

11. The method of claim 5 , wherein the act of verifying at least a portion of the identification and qualification information and the payment source identification comprises verification of account-holder status using a micro-deposit.

12. The method of claim 1 wherein the customer uses a phone for communicating with the interactive voice response system, further comprising the interactive voice response system asking for customer input keyed in on a phone keypad.

13. A system for performing money transfer send transactions comprising:

a component for receiving at a non-bank financial institution (NBFI) data center registration information from a customer, the registration information including payment source identification, and based on the registration information, generating a distribution profile;

a component for receiving at the NBFI data center from the customer send transaction specifications for staging each of a plurality of proposed send transactions and storing the send transaction specifications in the distribution profile;

an interactive voice response system communicating with the NBFI data center configured for:

receiving from the customer a send initiation instruction with associated customer authentication data and responsive thereto identifying a distribution profile;

upon verifying the authentication data, presenting a send transaction option corresponding to each of two or more of the plurality of proposed send transactions in the identified distribution profile; and receiving from the customer a selection from the send transaction options; and

a component responsive to the customer selection for initiating a send transaction, and a delivery of funds from a NBFI send system of the NBFI data center communicating with a non-bank agent network, according to the send transaction specifications for the proposed send transaction corresponding to the selected send transaction option and the payment source identification from the distribution profile.

14. The system of claim 12 , wherein the interactive voice response system further is configured to receive input comprising the registration information from the customer.

15. The system of claim 13 , further comprising a component for providing the customer send transaction confirmation information including a transaction identifier to identify the send transaction.

16. The system of claim 13 , wherein the component for receiving registration information comprises a component for receiving payment source identification selected from the group consisting of: prepaid card identification, debit card identification, credit card identification, and bank account identification.

17. The system of claim 13 , wherein the component for receiving a send initiation instruction with associated customer authentication information comprises a component for receiving authentication information for multifactor authentication.

18. The system of claim 17 , wherein the customer authentication information is two or more of: a password, a PIN, a biometric identifier and a sending device identifier.

19. The system of claim 13 , wherein the interactive voice response system is configured to ask for customer input keyed in on a phone keypad.

20. The system of claim 13 , wherein the interactive voice response system is configured to interact with a mobile phone and the interactive voice response system asks for customer input keyed in on a mobile phone keypad.
