N-Substituted (6-haloalkylpyridin-3-yl)alkyl sulfoximines are effective at controlling insects.
1. A method of controlling insects which comprises applying to a locus where control is desired an insect-inactivating amount of a compound of the formula (I)
wherein
X represents COOR 4 ;
L represents a single bond;
R 1 represents (C 1 -C 4 ) alkyl;
R 2 and R 3 independently represent hydrogen, (C 1 -C 4 ) alkyl, fluoro, chloro or bromo;
n is an integer from 0-3;
Y represents (C 1 -C 4 ) haloalkyl; and
R 4 represents (C 1 -C 3 ) alkyl.
2. A method of claim 1 in which Y represents —CF 3 .
3. A method of claim 1 in which R 2 and R 3 independently represent hydrogen, methyl or ethyl.
4. A method of claim 1 wherein said compound has the formula
wherein
R 2 and R 3 independently represent hydrogen, methyl, ethyl, fluoro, chloro or bromo; and
n is an integer from 1-3.
5. A method according to claim 1 wherein said compound is in a composition comprising one or more other insecticides, one or more herbicides, and/or one or more fungicides.
