Network system for coordinating bonus games
View Patent ↗A bonusing game system and method usable with games of chance in which all participating machines are synchronized so their independent bonus rounds play simultaneously. In one embodiment, one player terminal triggers a bonus round and is deemed a “seller” in a simulated auction, and all other active player terminals in a bank also participate as simulated “buyers.” The “seller” makes choices of items to sell which are communicated to the “buyers.” The “seller” watches as simulated bids are placed on their items, and “buyers” participate in simulated bidding of items shown on their screens. The seller and all buyers are awarded some winnings, enabling all players' terminals that run the simultaneous simulated auction bonus round to win each time the simulated auction bonus game is invoked.
1. A system for presenting a bonus game comprising:
two or more gaming devices, each of the two or more gaming devices comprising a processor and player controls operatively connected to the processor; and
a network connecting the two or more gaming devices;
wherein:
a first gaming device of the two or more gaming devices receives at least one wager via the player controls of the first gaming device;
a second gaming device of the two or more gaming devices receives at least one wager via the player controls of the second gaming device; and
upon occurrence of a triggering event on the first gaming device, the first gaming device transmits a first message to the second gaming device by way of the network that the triggering event has occurred on the first gaming device and that the first gaming device is initiating play of a first bonus game under control of its processor, wherein the first gaming device funds and manages the first bonus game; and
upon receipt of the first message, the second gaming device transmits a second message to the first gaming device by way of the network that the second gaming device is initiating play of a second bonus game under control of its processor, wherein the second gaming device funds and manages the second bonus game; and
wherein the first message and the second message coordinate at least in part a start of the first bonus game and a start of the second bonus game to create an illusion that the first and second bonus games are part of a single bonus game common to the first gaming device and the second gaming device.
2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the triggering event comprises a predetermined game outcome or a predetermined number of games played on the first gaming device.
3. The system of claim 1 , wherein at least one bonus pool on each of the first gaming device and the second gaming device is funded with a portion of their respective received wagers.
4. The system of claim 3 , wherein the first gaming device dispenses a bonus award with funds from the at least one bonus pool on the first gaming device.
5. The system of claim 3 , wherein the second gaming device dispenses a bonus award with funds from the at least one bonus pool on the second gaming device.
6. The system of claim 3 , wherein funds are transferred between a first bonus pool on the first gaming device and a second bonus pool on the second gaming device to balance the funds in the first and second bonus pools.
7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first bonus game and the second bonus game are different in appearance.
8. The system of claim 7 , wherein a choice made by a player of the first gaming device during the first bonus game is communicated to the second gaming device, wherein the choice affects the appearance of the second bonus game.
9. The system of claim 1 , wherein a bonus progressive pool associated with the first gaming device is funded with a portion of the wager received on the first gaming device.
10. The system of claim 1 , further a bonus progressive pool associated with the second gaming device is funded with a portion of the wager received on the second gaming device.
