Abstract

Systems and methods for facilitating the purchase of tagged items for a friend are described. The methods include receiving a communication with a link to one or more items tagged by a first user for a second user, transmitting the communication to a user device of the second user, receiving a payment request in connection with the one or more tagged items from the user device, and processing the payment request.

Claims (34)

1 . A system comprising:

a memory device storing user account information, wherein the user account information comprises financial information for a user account; and

one or more processors configured to:

receive a communication with a link to one or more items tagged by a first user for a second user;

transmit the communication to a user device of the second user without receiving contact information of the second user;

receive a payment request from the second user in connection with the one or more tagged items from the user device; and

process the payment request.

2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the second user is a social contact of the first user.

3 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the first user and second user are connected on at least one social networking website.

4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the communication comprises a text message, email, or both.

5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the first user selects the second user from a contact list available on a right click menu of a web browser.

6 . The system of claim 5 , wherein the contact list is imported from a list of contacts on a social networking website.

7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the onre or more processors is further operable to notify the first and second users after the payment request is processed.

8 . A method for facilitating the purchase of tagged items comprising:

receiving, by one or more hardware processors of a service provider, a communication with a link to one or more items tagged by a first user for a second user;

transmitting, by the one or more hardware processors, the communication to a user device of the second user without receiving contact information of the second user;

receiving, by the one or more hardware processors, a payment request from the second user in connection with the one or more tagged items from the user device; and

processing, by the one or more hardware processors, the payment request.

9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the second user is a social contact of the first user.

10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the first user and second user are connected on at least one social networking website.

11 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the communication comprises a text message, email, or both.

12 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the first user selects the second user from a contact list available on a right click menu of a web browser.

13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the contact list is imported from a list of contacts on a social networking website.

14 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising notifying the first and second users after the payment request is processed.

16 . A non-transitory machine-readable medium comprising a plurality of machine-readable instructions which when executed by one or more processors of a server are configured to cause the server to perform a method comprising:

receiving a communication with a link to one or more items tagged by a first user for a second user;

transmitting the communication to a user device of the second user without receiving contact information of the second user;

receiving a payment request in connection with the one or more tagged items from the user device; and

processing the payment request.

17 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 16 , wherein the first user and second user are connected on at least one social networking website.

18 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 16 , wherein the communication comprises a text message, email, or both.

19 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 16 , wherein the method further comprises further comprises notifying the first and second users after the payment request is processed.
