Abstract

A filter assembly includes a canister housing closable by a lid and containing a removable and replaceable filter element cartridge. The lid is part of the filter element cartridge and a single unitary component therewith, such that removal of the filter element cartridge also removes the lid, and replacement of the filter element cartridge also replaces the lid.

Claims (33)

1. Filter assembly to filter at least one fluid, the filter assembly comprising:

a vessel having an open end,

a cover configured to close the open end of the vessel,

a tube within the vessel, the tube extending along a longitudinal axis X of the vessel,

a removable filter cartridge housed in the vessel and comprising a first flange, a second flange, and a filtering medium extending between the first and second flanges and having a tubular hollow space to surround the tube, and

a holder holding the first flange on the vessel, the holder configured to prevent the detachment of the first flange from the vessel and/or configured to enable the filter cartridge to be held fixedly in the vessel,

characterized in that the first flange of the filter cartridge at least partially forms the cover, in that the first flange of the filter cartridge at least partially forms an external wall of the filter assembly, in that the first flange includes an aperture, and in that the tube includes an upper extension passing through the aperture of the first flange and cooperating in a tightly sealed manner with the aperture, said upper extension being configured to abut against an external face of the first flange opposite the filter media and to form said holder.

2. Filter assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the first flange is configured to cooperate with the vessel so as to close the vessel in a tightly sealed manner.

3. Filter assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the first flange rests on an upper edge of the vessel.

4. Filter assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the tube is fixed removably relatively to the vessel.

5. Filter assembly to filter at least one fluid, the filter assembly comprising:

a vessel having an open end,

a cover configured to close the open end of the vessel,

a tube within the vessel, the tube extending along a longitudinal axis X of the vessel,

a removable filter cartridge housed in the vessel and comprising a first flange, a second flange, and a filtering medium extending between the first and second flanges and having a tubular hollow space to surround the tube,

a holder holding the first flange on the vessel, the holder configured to prevent the detachment of the first flange from the vessel and/or configured to enable the filter cartridge to be held fixedly in the vessel,

a closing ring fixedly joined externally with an end portion of the vessel while at the same time being at least partially mobile in rotation relatively to the vessel and forming said holder,

characterized in that the first flange of the filter cartridge at least partially forms the cover, and in that the first flange of the filter cartridge at least partially forms an external wall of the filter assembly.

6. Filter assembly according claim 5 , wherein said closing ring is configured so that, by partial rotation relatively to the vessel while remaining fixedly joined to it, it can pass from a first position enabling the filter cartridge to be withdrawn from the vessel or enabling the filter cartridge to be positioned in the vessel to a second position preventing the filter cartridge from being withdrawn from the vessel or preventing the filter cartridge from being positioned in the vessel, and vice versa.

7. Filter assembly according to claim 6 , wherein a peripheral shoulder of the first flange has a plurality of fins, and wherein the closing ring, in a retaining shoulder extending diametrically inwards, includes a plurality of notches configured to cooperate with the fins of the first flange so as to make the closing ring pass, by partial rotation of the closing ring, from the first position in which the notches and the fins are superimposed to the second position in which the notches and the fins are positioned so as to be offset without superimposition.

8. Filter assembly according to claim 5 , wherein the closing ring is configured in such a way that, when it is fixedly joined to the vessel in a holding position, it prevents any withdrawal of the filter cartridge.

9. Filter assembly according to claim 5 , wherein the closing ring is fixed by screwing to the vessel, the vessel including an external thread and the closing ring including a corresponding internal thread.

10. Filter assembly according to claim 9 , wherein the first flange is provided, in proximity to its periphery, with at least one elastic clip-on tab.

11. Filter assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the first flange is equipped, on an external face, with a removable or non-removable grip configured to enable or facilitate the grasping of the filter cartridge.

12. Filter assembly according to claim 1 , comprising at least one ring gasket cooperating with the first flange to provide for the tight sealing of the closure between the vessel and the first flange.

13. Filter assembly according to claim 12 , wherein the first flange has a peripheral shoulder having a ring-shaped peripheral housing to house said gasket.

14. Filter assembly according to claim 12 , wherein the first flange has a peripheral shoulder having a peripheral rib and the gasket is configured to cooperate with the peripheral rib.

15. Filter assembly according to claim 5 , wherein a gasket is configured to provide for tight sealing between the closing ring, the vessel and the first flange.

16. Filter cartridge for a filter assembly comprising:

a first flange including an aperture,

a second flange, and

a filtering medium extending between the first and second flanges and having a tubular hollow space,

characterized in that when the filter cartridge is installed in the filter assembly the tubular hollow space is configured to surround a tube of the filter assembly, the first flange at least partially forms a cover configured to close an open end of a vessel of the filter assembly, the first flange at least partially forms an external wall of the filter assembly, and the tube of the filter assembly includes an upper extension passing through the aperture of the first flange and cooperating in a tightly sealed manner with the aperture, said upper extension being configured to abut against an external face of the first flange opposite the filter media.
