Method for reducing cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in prediaetic patients and patients with type 2 diabetes
View Patent ↗This invention relates to a method of reducing cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in a prediabetic or Type 2 Diabetes patient population. The method comprises administering an effective dosage of a long acting insulin, preferably insulin glargine, to a prediabetic or Type 2 Diabetes patient.
1. A method of reducing the risk of progression to type 2 diabetes in a patient diagnosed with a disease or condition selected from the group of impaired fasting glucose (IFG) and impaired glucose tolerance (IGT), comprising administering to said patient a therapeutically effective dosage of a long acting insulin, wherein said therapeutically effective dosage of said long acting insulin reduces the risk of progression to type 2 diabetes in said patient.
2. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the long acting insulin is insulin glargine.
