Abstract

The invention relates to a method for configuring a telecommunication system comprising at least one sending entity and one receiving entity between which the same link transmits several transport channels with different qualities of service. The sending entity matches the rate between the different coded transport channels with separate qualities of service, and the different coded transport channels are then multiplexed. The matching rate specific to each coded transport channel is determined from at least one first parameter representative of the expected Eb/I ratio and a second parameter representative of the capacity of the physical channel.

Claims (30)

1. A method for a communication terminal communicating with a network entity using a plurality of transport channels, the method comprising:

receiving, by a receiver of the communication terminal, for each of said transport channels a first parameter;

receiving, by the receiver of the communication terminal, rate matched data; and

determining a variation between a number of bits of each of said transport channels before a rate matching process and a number of bits of each of said transport channels after the rate matching process based on a second parameter indicating a maximum physical rate corresponding to a transport channel composite and at least one of the received first parameters.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein each first parameter represents a rate matching attribute for the corresponding transport channel.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein determining a variation comprises basing the variation on a third parameter, the third parameter based on a maximum of a plurality of fourth parameters, each fourth parameter based on a sum of calculations for each of said transport channels, wherein each calculation is a product of the rate matching attribute for one of said transport channels and the number of bits before rate matching for the one of said transport channels.

4. The method of claim 3 , wherein at least two fourth parameters correspond to different transport format combinations for the transport channel composite.

5. The method of claim 3 , wherein the first parameter relates to a rate matching ratio, the rate matching ratio is based on the rate matching attribute of each of said transport channels, the maximum physical rate corresponding to a transport channel composite and the third parameter.

6. The method of claim 2 , wherein at least one rate matching attribute is received using Radio Resource Control (RRC) signaling.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein determining a variation further comprises basing the variation on a maximum value of a rate estimator.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the maximum physical rate corresponds to a number of bits that are available for the transport channel composite in one radio frame.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the transport channel composite includes a plurality of transport channels and is received via a at least one physical channel.

10. The method of claim 1 , wherein the physical channel is dedicated physical data channel (DPDCH).

11. The method of claim 1 , wherein the received data corresponds to the number of bits of each of said transport channels after the rate matching process.

12. The method of claim 1 , further comprising processing the received rate matched data based on the determined variation.

13. A communication terminal for communicating using a plurality of transport channels, the communication terminal configured to:

receive, by a receiver of the communication terminal, for each of said transport channels a first parameter;

receive, by the receiver of the communication terminal, rate matched data; and

determine a variation between a number of bits of each of said transport channels before a rate matching process and a number of bits of each of said transport channels after the rate matching process based on a second parameter indicating a maximum physical rate corresponding to a transport channel composite and at least one of the received first parameters.

14. The communication terminal of claim 13 , wherein each first parameter represents a rate matching attribute for the corresponding transport channel.

15. The communication terminal of claim 14 , wherein the variation is determined based on a third parameter, the third parameter based on a maximum of a plurality of fourth parameters, each fourth parameter based on a sum of calculations for each of said transport channels, wherein each calculation is a product of the rate matching attribute for one of said transport channels and the number of bits before rate matching for the one of said transport channels.

16. The communication terminal of claim 15 , wherein at least two fourth parameters correspond to different transport format combinations for the transport channel composite.

17. The communication terminal of claim 15 , wherein the first parameter relates to a rate matching ratio, the rate matching ratio based on the rate matching attribute of each of said transport channels, the maximum physical rate corresponding to a transport channel composite and the third parameter.

18. The communication terminal of claim 14 , wherein at least one rate matching attribute is received using Radio Resource Control (RRC) signaling.

19. The communication terminal of claim 13 , wherein the variation is determined based on a maximum value of a rate estimator.

20. The communication terminal of claim 13 , wherein the maximum physical rate corresponds to a number of bits that are available for the transport channel composite in one radio frame.

21. The communication terminal of claim 13 , wherein the transport channel composite includes a plurality of transport channels and is received via a at least one physical channel.

22. The communication terminal of claim 13 , wherein the physical channel is dedicated physical data channel (DPDCH).

23. The communication terminal of claim 13 , wherein the received data corresponds to the number of bits of each of said transport channels after the rate matching process.

24. The communication terminal of claim 13 , further configured to process the received rate matched data based on the determined variation.
