Abstract

A portable hand-held device is provided having a digital camera and a processor. The digital camera has two image sensors respectively arranged to capture corresponding images of the same scene. The processor image processes the images captured by the image sensors so as to output three dimensional stereoscopic images. The processor has two interfaces for respectively receiving the images captured by the image sensors.

Claims (24)

1. A portable hand-held device, comprising:

a digital camera having two image sensors arranged to capture corresponding images of the same scene; and

a processor for image processing the images captured by the two image sensors so as to output three dimensional stereoscopic images, the processor having two interfaces for respectively receiving the images captured by the two image sensors,

wherein the processor is configured to run image processing programs to provide effects including one or more of spatial transformations, artistic brushing, complex synthetic illumination, color transforms, image filtering, and compositing on the captured images, wherein the image processing programs correspond to a signal that is associated with a user selectable graphic representative of a manipulation to occur.

2. A device according to claim 1 , further comprising a display in communication with the processor for displaying images output from the processor.

3. A device according to claim 2 , wherein the display is a liquid crystal display.

4. A device according to claim 3 , wherein the liquid crystal display is a thin film transistor display.

5. A device according to claim 1 , wherein the processor further includes a user input device interface configured to receive user input.

6. A device according to claim 5 , wherein the image processing programs are based on the user input.

7. A device according to claim 1 , wherein the processor includes multiple processing units and a crossbar switch for interconnecting each of the multiple processing units.

8. A device according to claim 1 , wherein the processor further comprises a data cache to store the output from the processor.

9. A device according to claim 1 , wherein the image processing programs comprise scripts.

10. A processor, comprising:

a first interface for receiving first image data of a scene from a first image sensor;

a second interface for receiving second image data of the same scene from a second image sensor;

multiple processing units for processing the first and second image data so as to output three dimensional stereoscopic images, wherein the multiple processing units are configured to execute image processing programs to provide effects including one or more of spatial transformations, artistic brushing, complex synthetic illumination, color transforms, image filtering, and compositing on the captured images, wherein the image processing programs correspond to a signal that is associated with a user selectable graphic representative of a manipulation to occur.

11. A processor according to claim 10 , wherein the processor is configured to output processed data to a display.

12. A processor according to claim 11 , wherein the display is a liquid crystal display.

13. A processor according to claim 12 , wherein the liquid crystal display is a thin film transistor display.

14. A processor according to claim 10 , further comprising a user input device interface configured to receive user input.

15. A processor according to claim 14 , wherein the image processing programs are based on the user input.

16. A processor according to claim 10 , further comprising a crossbar switch for interconnecting each of the multiple processing units.

17. A processor according to claim 10 , further comprising a data cache to store output data from the processor.

18. A processor according to claim 10 , wherein the image processing programs comprise scripts.
