DEVICE WAKEUP ORIENTATION
Methods and devices for selectively presenting a user interface after waking from a stand-by mode. More particularly, the method includes a device entering a stand-by mode while in a first orientation or state. While in the stand-by mode, the device changes orientation or state. The device can determine the new orientation or state upon waking and provide the appropriate display for the new orientation or state.
1 . A method, comprising:
providing a device having at least first and second screens, wherein the device is in a first orientation;
entering into a stand-by mode;
receiving input to wake the device from the stand-by mode; and
in response to the waking of the device, determining an orientation of the device after waking the device.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the device has a second orientation after waking.
3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the device provides a first display associated with the first orientation.
4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the device provides a second display associated with the second orientation.
5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the first and second displays are different.
6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the first orientation is a landscape orientation in a closed state, further comprising:
determining that the second orientation is a landscape orientation in an open state; and
providing a dual screen landscape display after waking.
7 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the first orientation is a landscape orientation in a closed state, further comprising:
determining that the second orientation is a portrait orientation in an open state; and
providing a dual screen portrait display after waking.
8 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the first orientation is a landscape orientation in an open state, further comprising:
determining that the second orientation is a portrait orientation in an open state; and
providing a dual screen portrait display after waking.
9 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the device enters the stand-by mode after a predetermined time of inactivity.
10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the input to wake the device is a user interface input.
11 . A device, comprising:
a first screen, the first screen including a first gesture capture region;
a second screen, wherein the second screen faces an opposite direction from the first screen when the device is closed, and wherein an image capture lens is associated with the second screen;
a memory;
a processor in communication with the memory, the first screen, and the second screen, the processor operable to:
enter into a stand-by mode;
receive input to wake the device from the stand-by mode; and
in response to the waking of the device determine an orientation of the device after waking the device.
12 . The device of claim 11 , wherein the device has a second orientation after waking, wherein the device provides a first display associated with the first orientation, wherein the device provides a second display associated with the second orientation, and wherein the first and second displays are different.
13 . The device of claim 11 , wherein the first orientation is a landscape orientation in a closed state, the processor further operable to:
determine that the second orientation is a landscape orientation in an open state; and
provide a dual screen landscape display after waking.
14 . The device of claim 11 , wherein the first orientation is a landscape orientation in an open state, the processor further operable to:
determine that the second orientation is a portrait orientation in an open state; and
provide a dual screen portrait display after waking.
15 . The device of claim 14 , wherein the device enters the stand-by mode after a predetermined time of inactivity, and wherein the input to wake the device is a user interface input.
16 . A computer readable medium having stored thereon computer-executable instructions, the computer executable instructions causing a processor of a device to execute a method for providing a user interface, the computer-executable instructions comprising:
instructions to enter into a stand-by mode;
instructions to receive input to wake the device from the stand-by mode; and
in response to the waking of the device, instructions to determine an orientation of the device after waking the device.
17 . The computer readable medium of claim 16 , wherein the device has a second orientation after waking, wherein the device provides a first display associated with the first orientation, wherein the device provides a second display associated with the second orientation, and wherein the first and second displays are different.
18 . The computer readable medium of claim 17 , wherein the first orientation is a landscape orientation in a closed state, further comprising instructions to:
determine that the second orientation is a landscape orientation in an open state; and
provide a dual screen landscape display after waking.
19 . The computer readable medium of claim 17 , wherein the first orientation is a landscape orientation in an open state, further comprising instructions to:
determine that the second orientation is a portrait orientation in an open state; and
provide a dual screen portrait display after waking.
20 . The computer readable medium of claim 17 , wherein the device enters the stand-by mode after a predetermined time of inactivity, and wherein the input to wake the device is a user interface input.
