PREDICTIVE MOTION INTERPOLATION
Methods and devices for receiving input and presenting a user interface with two screens and an off screen gesture area. The device may have an off screen gesture area that accepts user input outside the display area. The interface inputs received in the off screen gesture are may have special handling and cause different display changes. Further, the device, having two screens, may receive user interface inputs that cross the seam between the two displays. To provide a display that acts like a single display area, the device can predict motions may cross the seam and then interrelate separate inputs on separate screens. The interrelated inputs can cause display changes as if the inputs were received as a single user interaction.
1 . A method, comprising:
providing a device having at least first and second screens;
receiving a first user interface input in a first screen; and
predicting a continuation of the first user interface input.
2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising determining a vector for the first user interface input.
3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the device includes a seam between the first and second screens.
4 . The method of claim 3 , further comprising, based on the vector, predicting that the first user interface input will cross the seam.
5 . The method of claim 4 , further comprising waiting an amount of time.
6 . The method of claim 5 , further comprising determining if a second user interface input is received within the amount of time.
7 . The method of claim 6 , further comprising if the second user interface input is received within the amount of time, determining that the second user interface input and the first user interface input are part of a single user interaction.
8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the amount of time is predetermined.
9 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the amount of time is calculated based on the vector.
10 . The method of claim 7 , wherein a display for the device is changed based on the prediction that the first user interface input will cross the seam.
11 . A device, comprising:
a first screen;
a second screen, wherein a seam separates the first and second screens;
an off screen gesture area;
a memory;
a processor in communication with the memory, the first screen, and the second screen, the processor operable to:
receive a first user interface input in a first screen; and
predict a continuation of the first user interface input.
12 . The device of claim 11 , the processor further operable to:
determine a vector for the first user interface input; and
based on the vector, predict that the first user interface input will cross the seam.
13 . The device of claim 12 , the processor further operable to:
wait an amount of time;
determine if a second user interface input is received within the amount of time; and
if the second user interface input is received within the amount of time, determine that the second user interface input and the first user interface input are part of a single user interaction.
14 . The device of claim 13 , wherein the amount of time is predetermined or the amount of time is calculated based on the vector.
15 . The device of claim 14 , wherein a display for the device is changed based on the prediction that the first user interface input will cross the seam before the second user interface input is received.
16 . A computer readable medium having stored thereon computer-executable instructions, the computer executable instructions causing a processor of a device to execute a method for providing a user interface, the computer-executable instructions comprising:
instructions to receive a first user interface input in a first screen; and
instructions to predict a continuation of the first user interface input.
17 . The computer readable medium of claim 16 , further comprising instructions to:
determine a vector for the first user interface input; and
based on the vector, predict that the first user interface input will cross the seam.
18 . The computer readable medium of claim 17 , further comprising instructions to:
wait an amount of time;
determine if a second user interface input is received within the amount of time; and
if the second user interface input is received within the amount of time, determine that the second user interface input and the first user interface input are part of a single user interaction.
19 . The computer readable medium of claim 18 , wherein the amount of time is predetermined or the amount of time is calculated based on the vector.
20 . The computer readable medium of claim 19 , wherein a display for the device is changed based on the prediction that the first user interface input will cross the seam before the second user interface input is received.
