Treatment of pervasive developmental disorders with redox-active therapeutics

1. A method of reducing the symptoms associated with, or for treating or suppressing a pervasive developmental disorder (PDD) or attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in a patient in need of such treatment, comprising administering to the patient a therapeutically or physiologically effective amount of a compound of Formula V,
wherein:
R 1 , R 2 , and R 3 are independently selected from the group consisting of H, (C 1 -C 6 )alkyl, (C 1 -C 6 )haloalkyl, (C 1 -C 6 )alkoxy, halogen and CN;
or a stereoisomer, a mixture of stereoisomers, a solvate or a hydrate thereof.
2. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the compound of Formula V has the formula:
or a solvate or a hydrate thereof.

4. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the method is a method of reducing the symptoms associated with, or for treating or suppressing a pervasive developmental disorder (PDD), wherein the PDD is autistic spectrum disorder (ASD).
5. The method according to claim 2 , wherein the method is a method of reducing the symptoms associated with, or for treating or suppressing a pervasive developmental disorder (PDD), wherein the PDD is autistic spectrum disorder (ASD).
6. The method according to claim 3 , wherein the method is a method of reducing the symptoms associated with, or for treating or suppressing a pervasive developmental disorder (PDD), wherein the PDD is autistic spectrum disorder (ASD).
7. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the method is a method of reducing the symptoms associated with, or for treating or suppressing attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
8. The method according to claim 2 , wherein the method is a method of reducing the symptoms associated with, or for treating or suppressing attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
9. The method according to claim 3 , wherein the method is a method of reducing the symptoms associated with, or for treating or suppressing attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
10. The method of claim 4 , wherein the autistic spectrum disorder is autistic disorder.
11. The method of claim 5 , wherein the autistic spectrum disorder is autistic disorder.
12. The method of claim 6 , wherein the autistic spectrum disorder is autistic disorder.
13. The method of claim 1 , wherein the method is a method of reducing the symptoms associated with, or for treating or suppressing a pervasive developmental disorder (PDD), wherein the PDD is Rett's disorder.
14. The method of claim 2 , wherein the method is a method of reducing the symptoms associated with, or for treating or suppressing a pervasive developmental disorder (PDD), wherein the PDD is Rett's disorder.
15. The method of claim 3 , wherein the method is a method of reducing the symptoms associated with, or for treating or suppressing a pervasive developmental disorder (PDD), wherein the PDD is Rett's disorder.
16. The method according to claim 1 , wherein R 1 , R 2 , and R 3 are independently selected from (C 1 -C 4 ) alkyl.
17. The method according to claim 1 , wherein R 1 , R 2 , and R 3 are methyl.
18. The method according to claim 1 , wherein at least one of R 1 , R 2 , and R 3 is not methyl.
19. The method according to claim 1 , wherein R 1 and R 2 are independently selected from (C 1 -C 4 ) alkoxy, and R 3 is (C 1 -C 4 ) alkyl.
20. The method according to claim 1 , wherein R 1 and R 2 are methoxy, and R 3 is methyl.
21. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the compound is administered as a composition comprising at least one physiologically acceptable carrier, adjuvant, excipient, buffer, or diluent.
22. The method according to claim 2 , wherein the compound is administered as a composition comprising at least one physiologically acceptable carrier, adjuvant, excipient, buffer, or diluent.
23. The method according to claim 3 , wherein the compound is administered as a composition comprising at least one physiologically acceptable carrier, adjuvant, excipient, buffer, or diluent.

The method according to claim 1 , wherein the method comprises administering to the patient a food, medical food, functional food, food supplement, or dietary supplement comprising a composition comprising the compound and at least one physiologically or nutritionally acceptable carrier, adjuvant, excipient, buffer, or diluent.
25. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the method is a method for treating a pervasive developmental disorder (PDD) or attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
26. The method according to claim 2 , wherein the method is a method for treating a pervasive developmental disorder (PDD) or attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
27. The method according to claim 3 , wherein the method is a method for treating a pervasive developmental disorder (PDD) or attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
28. The method of claim 4 , wherein the method is a method of treating autistic spectrum disorder (ASD).
29. The method of claim 6 , wherein the method is a method of treating autistic spectrum disorder (ASD).
