TRANSITIONING USER INTERFACE FEATURES FOR ON-DEMAND SERVICES THROUGH USE OF PORTABLE COMPUTING DEVICES
A method for operating a computing device is disclosed. A user interface of an application that is running on the computing device is displayed. The user interface has a first panel and a second panel in an original position. The computing device can receive a user input. In response to receiving the user input, the first panel and the second panel can be transitioned to display a set of features that were not previously displayed before receiving the user input.
1 . A method for operating a computing device, the method being performed by one or more processors and comprising:
displaying, on a display of the computing device, a user interface as part of an application that is running on the computing device, the user interface having a first panel and a second panel in an original position;
receiving a user input; and
in response to receiving the user input, transitioning the first panel and the second panel to display a set of features that were not previously displayed before receiving the user input.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the user input corresponds to a selection of a selectable feature provided on the first panel or the second panel, and wherein the displayed set of features correspond to features related to the selectable feature.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first panel and the second panel have different sizes.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein transitioning the first panel and the second panel includes moving the first panel in a first direction and moving the second panel in a second direction that is opposite to the first direction.
5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein moving the first panel and moving the second panel includes hiding at least a portion of the first panel and at least a portion of the second panel, respectively, so that the hidden portions are no longer displayed as part of the user interface.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein transitioning the first panel and the second panel includes moving the first panel in a first direction so that the first panel is no longer displayed as part of the user interface and moving the second panel in a second direction that is opposite to the first direction so that a first portion of the second panel is displayed as part of the user interface but a second portion of the second panel is no longer displayed as part of the user interface.
7 . The method of claim 6 , further comprising:
receiving a second user input, the second user input corresponding to a selection of the first portion of the second panel; and
in response to receiving the second user input, transitioning the first panel and the second panel back to the original position.
8 . A non-transitory computer readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, causes the one or more processors to perform steps comprising:
displaying, on a display of a computing device, a user interface as part of an application that is running on the computing device, the user interface having a first panel and a second panel in an original position;
receiving a user input; and
in response to receiving the user input, transitioning the first panel and the second panel to display a set of features that were not previously displayed before receiving the user input.
9 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the user input corresponds to a selection of a selectable feature provided on the first panel or the second panel, and wherein the displayed set of features correspond to features related to the selectable feature.
10 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the first panel and the second panel have different sizes.
11 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the instructions cause the one or more processors to transition the first panel and the second panel by moving the first panel in a first direction and moving the second panel in a second direction that is opposite to the first direction.
12 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 11 , wherein the instructions cause the one or more processors to move the first panel and move the second panel by hiding at least a portion of the first panel and at least a portion of the second panel, respectively, so that the hidden portions are no longer displayed as part of the user interface.
13 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the instructions cause the one or more processors to transition the first panel and the second panel by moving the first panel in a first direction so that the first panel is no longer displayed as part of the user interface and moving the second panel in a second direction that is opposite to the first direction so that a first portion of the second panel is displayed as part of the user interface but a second portion of the second panel is no longer displayed as part of the user interface.
14 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 13 , wherein the instructions cause the one or more processors to:
receive a second user input, the second user input corresponding to a selection of the first portion of the second panel; and
in response to receiving the second user input, transition the first panel and the second panel back to the original position.
15 . A mobile computing device comprising:
a touch-sensitive display;
one or more memory resources; and
one or more processors coupled to the display and the one or more memory resources, the one or more processors to:
display, on the touch-sensitive display, a user interface as part of an application that is running on the computing device, the user interface having a first panel and a second panel in an original position;
receive a user input; and
in response to the receiving user input, transition the first panel and the second panel to display a set of features that were not previously displayed before receiving the user input.
16 . The mobile computing device of claim 15 , wherein the user input corresponds to a selection of a selectable feature provided on the first panel or the second panel, and wherein the displayed set of features correspond to features related to the selectable feature.
17 . The mobile computing device of claim 15 , wherein the first panel and the second panel have different sizes.
18 . The mobile computing device of claim 15 , wherein the one or more processors move the first panel and move the second panel by hiding at least a portion of the first panel and at least a portion of the second panel, respectively, so that the hidden portions are no longer displayed as part of the user interface.
19 . The mobile computing device of claim 18 , wherein the one or more processors transition the first panel and the second panel by moving the first panel in a first direction so that the first panel is no longer displayed as part of the user interface and moving the second panel in a second direction that is opposite to the first direction so that a first portion of the second panel is displayed as part of the user interface but a second portion of the second panel is no longer displayed as part of the user interface.
20 . The mobile computing device of claim 19 , wherein the one or more processors:
receive a second user input, the second user input corresponding to a selection of the first portion of the second panel; and
in response to receiving the second user input, transition the first panel and the second panel back to the original position.
