Abstract

The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for encoding and decoding an image by skip encoding. The image-encoding method by skip encoding, which performs intra-prediction, comprises: performing a filtering operation on the signal which is reconstructed prior to an encoding object signal in an encoding object image; using the filtered reconstructed signal to generate a prediction signal for the encoding object signal; setting the generated prediction signal as a reconstruction signal for the encoding object signal; and not encoding the residual signal which can be generated on the basis of the difference between the encoding object signal and the prediction signal, thereby performing skip encoding on the encoding object signal.

Claims (8)

1. An image decoding method performed by a decoding apparatus, the image decoding method comprising:

determining whether to perform filtering on reconstructed signals to be used in generating intra prediction signals of decoding object signals in a decoding object image, the reconstructed signals being previously reconstructed from other decoding object signals in the decoding object image;

performing the filtering on the reconstructed signals in response to a result of the determining being that the filtering is to be performed; and

generating intra prediction signals of the decoding object signals based on the filtered reconstructed signals;

wherein the determining of whether to perform the filtering is based on a block size of the decoding object signals and an intra prediction mode; and

the performing of the filtering comprises performing the filtering using bilinear interpolation.

2. The image decoding method of claim 1 , wherein a strength of a filter used in the filtering is variable.

3. The image decoding method of claim 2 , further comprising determining the variable strength of the filter based on a flag transmitted from an image coding apparatus that transmitted the decoding object signals.
