Rate of Change Protection System and Method For An Aquatic Environment
A system and method for dosing additives to an aquatic environment. The rate of addition of an additive is monitored by an aquatic environment monitoring device as the additive is added to the aquatic environment. Stored information related to aquatic environment parameters is utilized to generate a rate correction instruction that may be used to make changes in a rate of addition by an automatic dosing device and/or provide an alert to a user of the aquatic environment. A user interface may be provided for entry of certain aquatic environment parameters.
1 . A method of dosing an aquatic environment with one or more additives, the method comprising:
identifying a first additive for addition to the aquatic environment;
adding the first additive to the aquatic environment at a first rate of addition;
monitoring a rate of change of the first additive in the aquatic environment using an aquatic environment monitoring device;
comparing the rate of change of the first additive in the aquatic environment to a stored rate of change threshold value for the first additive to determine if the rate of change of the first additive in the aquatic environment exceeds the stored rate of change threshold value; and
generating a rate correction instruction in response to the rate of change of the first additive in the aquatic environment exceeding the stored rate of change threshold value.
2 . A method according to claim 1 , wherein said adding the first additive to the aquatic environment includes adding the first additive manually.
3 . A method according to claim 1 , wherein said adding the first additive to the aquatic environment includes adding the first additive using an automatic doser device.
4 . A method according to claim 3 , wherein said generating a rate correction instruction includes providing an instruction to the automatic doser device to modify the first rate of addition to a second rate of addition.
5 . A method according to claim 4 , further comprising adding the first additive at the second rate of addition using the automatic doser device.
6 . A method according to claim 1 , wherein said generating a rate correction instruction includes providing an alert to a user of the aquatic environment monitoring device to modify the first rate of addition to a second rate of addition.
7 . A method according to claim 1 , further comprising providing a user interface with one or more prompts for input by a user of the aquatic environment monitoring device for one or more aquatic environment parameters.

A method according to claim 7 , wherein the one or more aquatic environment parameters includes one or more data selected from the group consisting of a water type for the water of the aquatic environment, a volume of the aquatic environment, a dosage type for addition of one or more additives, a model identifier for an auto doser, data identifying one or more additives, data identifying one or more characteristics of one or more additives, a concentration of one or more additives, data identifying one or more fish species in the aquatic environment, data identifying one or more characteristics of one or more fish species in the aquatic environment, data identifying one or more plant species in the aquatic environment, data identifying one or more characteristics of one or more plant species in the aquatic environment, data identifying one or more coral species in the aquatic environment, data identifying one or more characteristics of one or more coral species in the aquatic environment, and any combinations thereof.
9 . A method according to claim 1 , wherein said generating a rate correction instruction includes using one or more stored aquatic environment parameters.

A method according to claim 9 , wherein the one or more aquatic environment parameters includes one or more data selected from the group consisting of a water type for the water of the aquatic environment, a volume of the aquatic environment, a dosage type for addition of one or more additives, a model identifier for an auto doser, data identifying one or more additives, data identifying one or more characteristics of one or more additives, a concentration of one or more additives, data identifying one or more fish species in the aquatic environment, data identifying one or more characteristics of one or more fish species in the aquatic environment, data identifying one or more plant species in the aquatic environment, data identifying one or more characteristics of one or more plant species in the aquatic environment, data identifying one or more coral species in the aquatic environment, data identifying one or more characteristics of one or more coral species in the aquatic environment, and any combinations thereof.
11 . A method according to claim 1 , further comprising:
generating a rate of addition instruction for the first additive using a dosage calculator associated with an automatic doser device prior to said adding the first additive to the aquatic environment at a first rate of addition, the rate of addition instruction being based on a stored value of a volume of the aquatic environment and stored rate of addition data for the first additive, the rate of addition instruction including the first rate of addition for the first additive; and
providing the rate of addition instruction to the automatic doser device, wherein said adding the first additive to the aquatic environment at the first rate of addition includes adding the first additive using the automatic doser device.
12 . A machine-readable hardware storage medium including machine-executable instructions for performing a method of dosing an aquatic environment with one or more additives, the instructions comprising:
a set of instructions for identifying a first additive for addition to the aquatic environment;
a set of instructions for adding the first additive to the aquatic environment at a first rate of addition;
a set of instructions for monitoring a rate of change of the first additive in the aquatic environment using an aquatic environment monitoring device;
a set of instructions for comparing the rate of change of the first additive in the aquatic environment to a stored rate of change threshold value for the first additive to determine if the rate of change of the first additive in the aquatic environment exceeds the stored rate of change threshold value; and
a set of instructions for generating a rate correction instruction in response to the rate of change of the first additive in the aquatic environment exceeding the stored rate of change threshold value.

A machine-readable hardware storage medium according to claim 12 , wherein said set of instructions for adding the first additive to the aquatic environment includes a set of instructions for adding the first additive manually and wherein said set of instructions for generating a rate correction instruction includes a set of instructions for providing an alert to a user of the aquatic environment monitoring device to modify the first rate of addition to a second rate of addition.

A machine-readable hardware storage medium according to claim 12 , wherein said set of instructions for adding the first additive to the aquatic environment includes a set of instructions for adding the first additive using an automatic doser device and wherein said set of instructions for generating a rate correction instruction includes a set of instructions for providing an instruction to the automatic doser device to modify the first rate of addition to a second rate of addition.
15 . A machine-readable hardware storage medium according to claim 14 , further comprising a set of instructions for adding the first additive at the second rate of addition using the automatic doser device.
16 . A machine-readable hardware storage medium according to claim 12 , further comprising a set of instructions for providing a user interface with one or more prompts for input by a user of the aquatic environment monitoring device for one or more aquatic environment parameters.

A machine-readable hardware storage medium according to claim 16 , wherein the one or more aquatic environment parameters includes one or more data selected from the group consisting of a water type for the water of the aquatic environment, a volume of the aquatic environment, a dosage type for addition of one or more additives, a model identifier for an auto doser, data identifying one or more additives, data identifying one or more characteristics of one or more additives, a concentration of one or more additives, data identifying one or more fish species in the aquatic environment, data identifying one or more characteristics of one or more fish species in the aquatic environment, data identifying one or more plant species in the aquatic environment, data identifying one or more characteristics of one or more plant species in the aquatic environment, data identifying one or more coral species in the aquatic environment, data identifying one or more characteristics of one or more coral species in the aquatic environment, and any combinations thereof.
18 . A machine-readable hardware storage medium according to claim 12 , wherein said set of instructions for generating a rate correction instruction includes a set of instructions for using one or more stored aquatic environment parameters.

A machine-readable hardware storage medium according to claim 18 , wherein the one or more aquatic environment parameters includes one or more data selected from the group consisting of a water type for the water of the aquatic environment, a volume of the aquatic environment, a dosage type for addition of one or more additives, a model identifier for an auto doser, data identifying one or more additives, data identifying one or more characteristics of one or more additives, a concentration of one or more additives, data identifying one or more fish species in the aquatic environment, data identifying one or more characteristics of one or more fish species in the aquatic environment, data identifying one or more plant species in the aquatic environment, data identifying one or more characteristics of one or more plant species in the aquatic environment, data identifying one or more coral species in the aquatic environment, data identifying one or more characteristics of one or more coral species in the aquatic environment, and any combinations thereof.
20 . A machine-readable hardware storage medium according to claim 12 , further comprising:
a set of instructions for generating a rate of addition instruction for the first additive using a dosage calculator associated with an automatic doser device prior to said adding the first additive to the aquatic environment at a first rate of addition, the rate of addition instruction being based on a stored value of a volume of the aquatic environment and stored rate of addition data for the first additive, the rate of addition instruction including the first rate of addition for the first additive; and
a set of instructions for providing the rate of addition instruction to the automatic doser device, wherein said set of instructions for adding the first additive to the aquatic environment at the first rate of addition includes a set of instructions for adding the first additive using the automatic doser device.
